Thursday, July 8, 2004 5:23 p.m. EDT AP Poll Rocks Kerry Camp: Bush Opens Leads Despite Edwards Pick

President Bush has opened up a lead over Sen. John Kerry in the latest voter survey, despite the addition of John Edwards to the Democratic ticket and 48 hours of non-stop media gushing over the selection.

The new Associated Press poll, released late Thursday afternoon, shows Bush-Cheney leading Kerry-Edwards by 49 to 44 percent. The Bush lead represents a four point improvement for the president, who was trailing Kerry in the same poll before Edwards joined his ticket.

That poll showed a hypothetical Kerry-Edwards ticket at 47 percent and Bush-Cheney at 44 percent.

After the Drudgereport's picture today, Kerry/Edwards may just be making inroads into the Log Cabin Republicans.
Ya never know. Politics make strange bedfellows--literally.

I guess adding a liberal to the ticket was a bad idea after all.
A good-looking liberal is in the end, still a liberal.

"48 hours of non-stop media gushing over the selection."

I still think Katie Kouric was faking those orgasms.

It's going to be fun to gloat (at the loser-media and DU types) this November.

Now I am shocked. I was/am totally prepared for a VP pick bounce, but that blip wasn't even seen on the radar screen. Can it be true? Oh, I hate to get too excited, but WOW!!!

I know we assume many Americans are stupid, but just why should the addition of Edwards give Kerry a bump? He's obviously not experienced enough to be president, he was no big draw in the primaries against mediocre opponents. Is it possible people are smart enough not to base their vote on increased news coverage?

There's been way too little coverage of how bizarre the VP announcement was. Kerry supposedly didn't have Edwards there to keep the pick a secret?? How would that be more important than having the guy there when you announce him? Doing the joint appearance later was a total flop. Didn't this reveal something about Kerry's ego, or his poor decision making?
