What do you think about a guy who spanks other people's children with a stick?
He's probably too lazy to find a real paddle?
The same thing I think of the decent, principled men and women who were my school teachers when I was growing up.
Ahh, but that was another time in America. Children actually learned to read and received an education. We learned to respect our elders and work hard - and the schools were not under threat of lawsuit for instilling those values, and incorporating discipline when necessary.
He was in a teacher/something role if I remember right, and I do remember that the parent gave permission. I think well of him, based on that if the kid needed it, and apparently the kid's parent agreed that he did.
I'm wondering about the mother who gave her permission!
In my generation, i'd have thought him to be a Public School Teacher.
I wonder how many Freepers would back a guy I know who beats his kids with the shaft of a golf club and punches them in the ribs if they forget a part for his work at the hardware store.
He's "conservative" though, and a big believer in the 2nd Amendment. And he thinks the gov't should "stay out of his business!"
Appropriate discipline with parent consent by concerned others is okay. I taught in a private school where this was practiced occasionally with very positive results.
