IRAQI POLICE OFFICERS GRADUATE FROM BAGHDAD ACADEMY BAGHDAD, IRAQ Office of Security Transition Baghdad, Iraq June 5, 2004

Nearly 300 newly hired and trained Iraqi police officers will begin their work on the streets of Baghdad in the coming days following their graduation from the Baghdad Public Service Academy this week.

The 272 graduates, including 91 women, spent eight weeks in training at the Academy. Training commenced April 10.

The course, which includes instruction on human rights, defensive tactics, firearms, and Iraqi law, is taught by soldiers from the 415th Military Police Detachment, the 272nd Military Police Company and G Company 759th Military Police Battalion. The academy is directed by British and U.S. police officers.

This is the fourth class to graduate from the academy. Graduates will now commence with a 24-week field training program.

Female recruits and police officers are held to the same standards as their male counterparts and therefore, there is no difference in recruiting standards.

Moore needs to be shot for treason. Freedom of speech is one thing. Selling his ridiculous piece of propanganda to China is beyond comprehension.

I agree, Moore shouldbe shot before sundown today. He is very much the enemy.

He doesnt include any of the good news in Iraq such as this:

Sunday, July 04, 2004 The Hospitals..Now.. During the ex-regime, the hospitals in Iraq, according to a decision from the ‘wise’ government were self-funded, i.e the poor Iraqi who’s downtrodden and plunged into poverty had to pay very high expenses to get the medicine or to be treated in the hospitals, thousands of families could not afford enough money even to buy a single item of their medicine, others could not get the necessary and important examinations to their sons and daughters cause it was so expensive, so they did not have anything but the patience and pray to God to help their parents or children..

While some hospitals like Ibn-AlBeetar Hospital in Baghdad were highly developed and equipped with many modern medical instruments and equipments, but such hospitals were *very* special for Saddam and his relatives and Ministers receiving the special care in them leaving the populace to endure the pains and diseases and die cause they did not have enough money, and how could they gain money if Saddam was giving them less than 2$ monthly? How could they reach to the hospitals with only few Dinars?

Then the ex-regime’s media and Arab channels show how the Iraqi children were suffering from the embargo and the lack of food and medicine and crying on the situation in Iraq while Saddam and his thugs were able to get enough money, food and medicine for all Iraqis but they kept them for themselves, it was clear that that blockade was mainly by the ex-regime, the regime who prohibited everything, the regime who intentionally impoverished and weakened the Iraqi people..

After the liberation, the new Ministry of Health decided to cancel the self-funded system in the hospitals making all the treatments and medicine for free, thousands of families are now being treated at no cost, they are so glad to get the free treatment..

Now Ibn-AlBeetar hospital is opened for all the Iraqi people to help them in getting the proper medical care and therapy..no more oppression.. no more pain.. Saddam has gone forever, so Iraqis will live in peace.. The Ministry of Health are now making many contracts with the companies to get large amounts of medicines to cover the needs of the patients here in Iraq.. I feel so pleased when sometimes I sit in the pharmacy room there in Basra with my colleague when someone comes and gets his medicine then says ‘how much?’.. And we reply ‘Ibbalash’! ( free).. Just look at the patient when he happily replies: ‘Thank God... thank you.. We are so grateful’.... It’s so refreshing..

Step by step, Iraqis get their human rights.. Live in prosperous and peaceful country and feel safe to raise their children..

Did you read the rest of it? Or just pick out one thing you disliked.

No answer required, its obvious.

Im sure they will get to pay in the future, when they can afford it. This is a transition period, once they get on their feet they can pay out the nose like us.

Guys,

After 15 months I'm about to head home myself. I am talking from personal experience when I say that the media ONLY wants to talk about an explosion. Provide electricity to a city of 5.6 million using several special built 300 ton (a piece) generators and it makes no news. Show a burning car on Christmas and it's on CNN for hours!

Speaking of which. Do you all remember Christmas when the news talked of an "Explosion in downtown Baghdad"? For two hours they talked and talked and talked about whether it was a car bomb, a rocket or mortars. Well, after all was done and said it was determined that the proud owners of an illegal gas station on a street corner using two 55 gallon drums and a syphon didn't work well since one of the two Iraqis decided to take a smoke. The news did correct themselves. After hours of bombbardment (ON CHRISTMAS) of the American public they ran a small correction on the bottom with the ticker once or twice.

The one thing I think MOST soldiers will remember in this war is how one sided, biased, agenda ladden, sensationalistic and shallow the news really is. I actually gave them some credibility before I came to Iraq. Now I truly see myself as wasting my time by watching the news. I want to know what's going on, but I know I will NEVER get an accurate read from CNN or most newspapers. They are no more than editorialists, opinions with a few facts wrapped up inside some where.

"The one thing I think MOST soldiers will remember in this war is how one sided, biased, agenda ladden, sensationalistic and shallow the news really is."

Trust me, many people here are also catching on to that BS, thankss to FR and other sites.

It infuriates me to no end the lack of reporting of all the progress made in Iraq.

My family and I thank you for what yall accomplished there, Millions of Iraqis do to. Its something to be very proud of for a lifetime.

I bet youre about ready to get back home Red, im glad youre coming home.

Did you happen to see that full page ad this group of Iraqis put in USATODAY? Its on the website I linked to above.

Rest assured the majority of Americans are very proud of the sacrifices and progress yall made over there and will vote accordingly in Nov.

Meanwhile we will continue to spread the accurate message of the great progress made and being madein offering a nation a chance at the freedom too many of us take for granted daily.

Again, thank you for your service and welcome home soon Brave Hero.

Red6, given the handover to a sovereign Iraqi Govt commited to democracy and freedom, and given, isnt it fair to say that in fact the US HAS WON THE WAR IN IRAQ already, despite the terrorism?

I mean, it is quite possible that post-liberation Iraq could slide back into fascism in some future scenario, but we'd call that losing the peace, not losing the war - look at France, 1944 and today. The way they act today you'd think the Vichy were the ones who won there.

Moore will look even more like a fool, once Iraq gets completely on her feet and becomes the economic powerhouse of the mid east, and freedom spreads.

"The open letter reads in part: "Just as we mourn for the victims of Saddam's regime, we also grieve for the Americans and Iraqis who were killed or injured during the liberation or by terrorists determined to hold us back. We will honor those who have sacrificed for our freedom by building a new Iraq that lives in peace with the nations of the world, without fear of war, torture chambers or terrorism."

It concludes: "As Iraqis assume full sovereignty over our nation, we extend our hands in friendship and gratitude to the American people. The sacrifices your sons and daughters made for our liberation will never be forgotten. Without those brave young men and women, this day might never have come."
