My Dad needs your prayers - and a card, if you could.
After successfully battling colon cancer 4 1/2 years ago - and 3 follow up surgeries to correct problems with his colostomy - he was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, with tumors on his spine and lung.
He started radiation treatments on one tumor but became too weak to get out of the house. We will be bringing in hospice care in a few days.
Your prayers for comfort are appreciated.
Why a card? My Dad is a collector of things. My local FReeper friends that have seen his house can attest to that. Pictures and cards are very meaningful to him. Computers and the Internet are not his cup glass of iced tea. If I printed this thread and presented it to him it wouldn't mean nearly as much as a card.
My Dad (Wilburn) is 80 years old and a widower. He served in the Pacific in WWII in the Navy Signal Corps.
Freepmail me for his address if you can send a card. I will reply as soon as I can.
Dad in the Pacific
Great cards Flyer.
Continued prayers for your Dad and your whole family. Don't forget that humor is a wonderful medicine. Get lots of funny movies and just enjoy yourselves.
YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE RARE PEOPLE WHO DESERVE MORE THAN THEY HAVE GOTTEN OUT OF LIFE. I will always have a place for you.
Thanks so much for the ping and picture Flyer. I told him he really looked good in that grass skirt when I sent my card! I'll keep him, and you, in my prayers.
What a great picture and yes, I see my card. Who sent that standout George Bush card?
Thanks for the reminder to keep your dad in prayer, I think I've been slacking the last few days.
Thank you for the update and the picture! Prayers continue...
Prayers continue!
Gosh!! How timely! I just sent ANOTHER card today!! We all must be feeling the same vibes! The Lord works in His own way doesn't he?
God Bless you two! And yes, I saw ours. And all the other BEAUTIFUL and fun cards that are there. Wilburn MUST SURELY feel the love!
Thanks for pinging us and PLEASE keep us posted.
SEND PICS OF WILBURN!!! (if he doesn't mind that is :o)
Amen to Pegita's prayer.
How do we get the address to send a card?
Say thanks to your Dad from me for serving in The Big One.
Great to hear your Dad is more upbeat.
I see room for more cards, I'd better send another.
As always, prayers.
Kewl picture (((((Flyer))))))) and ((((((((Flyer's Dad)))))))))
So glad to hear that the fight will continue. Rest assured you are both in my daily prayers. Please keep us all posted.
Oooo Flyer, your Dad was a hottie in his day! I'll go looking for a nifty card for him afterwork.
Thanks for the ping eaker.
I am so sorry to hear about your dad's illness . . . when you get a chance, FReepmail me the address and I'll send him a card.
My dad was in the European Theater (N Africa & Italy) but my father in law was in the Pacific, Signal Corps and later Army Air Corps.
(Never saw a pic of F-I-L in a grass skirt . . . that would have been a sight, he was a long lanky upcountry Georgia boy . . . but he does have some pix of the local ladies in same . . . )
P.S. your dad looks as cute in a grass skirt as any red-blooded American male has a right to!
I am still praying for him!
Thanks for the update, Flyer. Keep us posted as our prayers continue.
I'm praying for Dad, you, and your entire family.. Tell him to get with it, quick!.. I want to see you in that grass skirt, and sell the pictures of that moment back to you at a pretty fair price to if you want to keep them off the WWW.. :)
I'm so glad your dad enjoyed the card. I have been praying for him. He sounds feisty, may God give him the strength to see fight.

Would love to see your Dad's Pacific pictures, if you find time. I know how busy you must be.
Hello to your Dad :-)
To Flyer..
Another card on the way today. Glad to know your dad is out of hospital and in a fighting mood..good for him. His positive attitude will go a long way to helping him.
My prayers are with you. I lost my Dad in March. He was also a WWII Navy Veteran, Pacific theater USS Mississippi. Hospice was very kind to him. They notified the family in time so we could all be with him at the end and we were also assured that he gave his heart to the Lord before he left us. The end was very peaceful.
Suggestion: If you have not done it yet, register his name with the National WWII memorial. http://www.wwiimemorial.com/
Prayers continue and all the best wishes to you and your dad. Good nutrition with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables will help his fight.
