Just reading a transcript, I can still hear his monotonous droning voice.

I had the exact same response. That little smirk, like we're in on some snide joke with him. I end up watching him for at least a few minutes every night because I generally don't turn the TV on until about 10:00. MSNBC and CNBC are all talk shows at that hour and Fox is all Laci Peterson.
