DOHA (AFP) - A Filipino abducted in Iraq (news - web sites) will be executed unless the Philippines withdraws its troops from the country within 72 hours, said a video broadcast on Al-Jazeera television, showing a hostage cowering on his knees. The kidnapped Filipino, employed by a Saudi company working with US troops based in Iraq, was kidnapped by an armed group calling itself the "Khaled Ibn al-Walid Brigade" linked to the "Islamic Army in Iraq," Al-Jazeera said.
The pan-Arab television station broadcast footage of a man sitting on his knees, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, and surrounded by three masked men touting guns and reading their threat from a statement.
The group said it had killed an Iraqi security guard who was with the Filipino.
An identity card bearing the picture of an Iraqi and a company card on which was written: Hafidh H. Amer, Security Officer, was also broadcast by Al-Jazeera.
Prayers for the abducted Filipino...
As I have stated before, keep ticking off the world. Some of us will place a bounty on your head.
aww geeze, not this **** again!
The arabs have little regard for Filipinos anyway. I feel for this poor guy. I am detecting a patern though. They are grabing people from different coalition countries to see if they can get their military to leave the coaltion in Iraq-Japan, South Korea, Turkey, etc.
How will the Phillipine goverment react?
Will they pull a Spain or a SK?
Which countries have become a victim from the video-taped beheading threats?
USA
Philippines
South Korea
Turkey
Did I miss anyone?
I don't understand why terrorists would expect this to work this time. It hasnt worked so far and the Phillipines have their own share of beheadings at home.
Personally I think the terror networks are running out of two digit IQ heavyweights.
This is like a broken record, there must be something done about these jerks....
There is a group who claimed they are going to kill Al Zarqawi, I wish they would hurry up since he has no intention of repenting of this crap.
Hmmmm....it seems strange to me that they have taken another hostage and threatened beheading right after freeing the American and taking him to safety.
The American Muslim winds up free from the terrorists AND free from the military, safe in Lebanon. I have not been following this one too closely, but it would be a rather unique way of getting out of duty. Forgive me if I'm way off base (so to speak)...it just struck me as unusual.
Regardless, I pray for the safety of this latest hostage.
Hey Iraq....you need to start delivering on those threats against these thugs. Actions will speak louder than words!
They are sloppy but they have managed some small victories such as influencing the Spanish elections. And they probably monitor the sentiments here in the U.S. Of course when the first few beheadings occured I heard some say we should just pull out-that is exactly what we should not do.
It's about a 50/50 chance that the Phillipine hostage is a muslim as well.
I think people are going to start going numb to this tactic.
I don't think, in most cases, that the govts involved, care whether their people are numb or not....as it hasn't worked yet.
I was thinking the same from his name, Hafidh H. Amer
Tell me again why our Spooks can't monitor/track Al-Jazeera's internet and wire? If they follow the electrons, they should be able to bomb several safehouses in unison.
Al-Jazeera television should be asked to refrain from encouraging the capture and beheading of foreign nationals by running these videos.
If they decline, block their broadcasts. If they circumvent the blocking device, drop bombs on their broadcasting facilities reducing them to rubble.
Take away their propaganda arm and these barbarians will have less incentive to kidnap and behead. If they still want to do the kidnapping and beheading, well they'll be severely hampered in their efforts to spread the terror of their actions.
