Edwards is Kerry’s 2nd Choice for VP

Something to Yak About – Edwards is Kerry’s 2nd Choice for VP
There’s a certain poetry about being the 2nd choice for the 2nd spot on a ticket and that’s what we’ve got from John Kerry. North Carolina Freshman Senator John Edwards apparently polled better than any other vice presidential prospect and will now join Kerry on the – what, the John-John ticket?

Kerry Was Against John Edwards, Before He Supported Him
John Kerry minced few words while pummeling John Edwards during the Democrat primary season, at one point even speculating for a New York Times reporter, “When I came back from Vietnam in 1969 I don’t know if John Edwards was out of diapers then.” Kerry even got a boost from his stepson, who bashed Edwards as recently as mid-June, telling a Pittsburgh reporter “I was very pro-Edwards in the spring… but now I think we may need someone with stronger credentials on foreign policy.”

Will Kerry Give Edwards The OJT He Needs?
Now that John Kerry has picked John Edwards to be his running mate, The Yak presumes the Gentleman from Massachusetts will provide the on-the-job training Kerry seems to think Edwards requires. “This is not the time for on-the-job training in the White House on national security issues,” said Kerry.

So How Liberal Is This Guy?
John Edwards, the smooth talking trial lawyer who made his millions at the bar, can’t hide his Northeast-style liberal voting record behind his southern drawl. Edwards was named the 4th most liberal member of the Senate in 2003 – not by us, but by National Journal, perhaps the most respected non-partisan rating available. You may recall National Journal rated John Kerry as the most liberal senator, so it appears John and John are ideological soul mates.

The Final Yak
“On the campaign trail, Sen. Edwards has taken drastic action to portray himself as a Washington outsider,” said Gillespie. “… North Carolina taxpayers who are paying [John Edwards’] salary might want to let Sen. Edwards know that being [a Washington] outsider does not mean not showing up for work.” (SOURCE: RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie, February 2, 2004)

That's a killer fact in itself - Kerry's own stepson was for somebody else...

A Tale of Two Johns

It was the best of times (for the Bush Campaign). It was the worst of times (for the DNC)...

Yup, McCain. So Edwards was pick number two after a Republican.

We presume that will be Mr. Kerry's final answer...

Yup, McCain. So Edwards was pick number two after a Republican.

I think he should have picked Arlen Specter myself. Specter could have delivered Pennsylvania for Kerry.

Shalom.

I suspect it was always edwards because edwards has his own money, brings in trial lawyer money AND hitlary would have only taken money.

It was a gigolo choice.

So where does this leave Hillary? She's got a LOT riding on this election.

If the John-Johns lose, she's ready for 2008; that much is obvious.

If they win, she's probably shut out for 16 years. At which time she would be older than Reagan was.
