And I have to tell you right now — I didn't plan to talk about this — right now I feel her. I feel her presence. She's inside me, and she's talking to you.

Wow, he was the voice of the unborn?

And he made $50,000,000 off of it? What a humanitarian. <\sarcasm>

People like Edwards are to blame for the fact that it is getting harder and harder to find an obstetrician.

You're right. This "voice of the unborn" favors partial birth abortion. I wonder what those little innocents were saying as they were deliberately murdered.

That's exactly right. I am a former attorney - who spent an unfortunate 14 months with a personal injury/class action firm - and a woman whose OB-GYN (and several area neurosurgeons) left our state because of frivolous lawsuits.

Fits right in with flip flop. Edwards = cause of skyrocketing health care insurance, Kerry rides in on white horse with socialized medicine.

The biggest loser if Kommy/Redwards win could be Saudi Arabia, facing the biggest lawsuit of all time for their terrorist negligence. We're talking trillions of dollars. Saudi Arabia had better flood the market with oil now to drive down energy prices to boost our economic recovery else face the biggest money grab in the history of mankind.

I wonder what Redwards could do with 30% of a trillion dollars? Buy a small country?

"You're right. This "voice of the unborn" favors partial birth abortion. I wonder what those little innocents were saying as they were deliberately murdered."

No kidding... It simply mystifies me how a person can take money for speaking an argument the he personally disagrees with. He argues for the unborn for millions of dollars, but believes we have a "right" to kill the unborn on taxpayers money. Sigh.

"Actually, he was after the cases with the highest verdict potential."

I have no doubt this is true. I have known PI lawyers. What they care about is how big a verdict, or settlement, they think they can get.

"In the decade that followed, Mr. Edwards filed at least 20 similar lawsuits against doctors and hospitals in deliveries gone wrong, winning verdicts and settlements of more than $60 million, typically keeping about a third. As a politician he has spoken of these lawsuits with pride."

He is a rich trial lawyer.

"Edwards, a U.S. senator from North Carolina who was selected today by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry to be his running mate, is now worth between $19 million and $70 million after a 20-year career as a lawyer, according to financial-disclosure documents filed with the Senate. Yet the Kerry campaign is counting on the connection Edwards makes with ordinary voters as the son of mill workers who struggled to put him through college. "

Jeez. Kerry and Edwards both know how to reach into the deep pockets, don't they?

I also seem to remember an outstanding column, I think by Mark Steyn, dissecting Edwards' "Two Americas" speech. He described Edwards as wanting to make all Americans parties to a big class action lawsuit, or something to that effect. I think that article also tells the story about the "channeling" argument here. Maybe someone else remembers it? It was an excellent article....

Sounds of Sirens

Hello ambulance, my old friend, I'm here to chase you once again,
Because a money vision creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain,
Still remains, with the sound of sirens.

In restless dreams I ran alone, through the streets with my cellphone,
'neath the halos of the street lamps, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a rescue light
That split the night, and heard the sound of sirens.

And in the naked light I saw, Ten injured people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening,
Suing others, without any care.
Since Johnny's there, Amidst the sound of sirens.

"Fools" said I, "You do not know, how sirens set my heart a glow.
I use the courts that I might teach you, I use lawsuits that I might reach you."
But my words like heavy raindrops fell,
And echoed, Like the wail of sirens.

And those alike bowed and prayed, To the flashing gods they made.
And the strobe flashed out its warning, In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the juries are written on the ER walls
And patient halls." and whisper'd in the sound of sirens.
