July 6, 2004 -- EXCLUSIVE

John Kerry has chosen Rep. Richard Gephardt, the veteran congressman from Missouri, to be his running mate, The Post has learned.

Gephardt, 63, a 28-year veteran of the House of Representatives, could be named by the presumptive Democratic nominee as the party's vice-presidential candidate as soon as today.

The Massachusetts senator was set to announce the winner of the veep-stakes at a rally this morning in Pittsburgh, according to several reports last night.

With the July 26 Democratic convention in Boston looming, Kerry is looking for some advantage in the polls, and is hoping his choice of running mate will be the answer.

Look,IF Kerry had his prostate removed and the cancer did NOT get out of the prostate's lining and wall,he IS cancer free.Prostate cancer patients, are tested every few months the first year,so he would know if he is cancer free or not.

This isn't rocket science,you know...it's simple.

Gephardt knocked Dean out of the race in Iowa, so Kerry owes him. Plus, the union thugs love him.

If that's the case (it's print), news of their call would have leaked out before just a few minutes ago, don't you think? I would think so.

This is supremely idiotic. Why not have one Washington has-been when you can have two? ;)

This looks like the last stand of the old Democrat liberals, actually.

Lloyd Bentson, oh brother there's a name I haven't though of in 15 years.

Those Massachusetts folks really do have a knack for picking VP candidates.

The Unions told Kerry, that if he didn't pick Dickie, they would all sit on their collective hands and funds.

Kerry's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO afraid of the Unions, that he refused to cross a picket line in Boston, thus making the Mayor of Bosrton go nutso on Kerry.

I looked at the DU forums a couple days ago and didn't see any postings in favor of Gephardt. They seemed to be favoring Weasley.

The only good thing is that Gen Ripper...err Clark couldn't be Secretary of Defense until he has been out of the service for 10 years.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that, but according to Google, it is due to the National Security Act of 1947. His ten years will be up in 2010. That's a relief.

Not necessarily. It's the New York Post. Very little seems to leak from there. And other news organizations don't take them seriously, even if they should. BTW --- the Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News. Fox News is in their typical late-night repeat block.
