Poll: Over 40% of Canadian Teens Think America is "Evil"
The Toronto Free Press ^ | June 30, 2004 | Arthur Weinreb

Can West News Services, owners of several Canadian newspapers including the National Post as well as the Global Television Network commissioned a series of polls to determine how young people feel about the issues that were facing the country’s voters. Dubbed "Youth Vote 2004", the polls, sponsored by the Dominion Institute and Navigator Ltd. were taken with a view to getting more young people involved in the political process.

In one telephone poll of teens between the ages of 14 and 18, over 40 per cent of the respondents described the United States as being "evil". That number rose to 64 per cent for French Canadian youth.

This being Canada, the amount of anti-Americanism that was found is not surprising. What is significant is the high number of teens who used the word "evil" to describe our southern neighbour. As Misty Harris pointed out in her column in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, evil is usually associated with serial killers and "kids who tear the legs off baby spiders." These teens appear to equate George W. Bush and Americans with Osama bin Laden and Hitler, although it is unknown if the teens polled would describe the latter two as being evil. Whether someone who orders planes to be flown into heavily populated buildings would fit that description would make a good subject for a future poll.

To paraphrase a Freeper on another subject a few months back, the three most useless things there are, are boobs on a lesbian, balls on a homo, and the opinion of a teenager. (Technically I suppose that's five things, but you get the point.)

If we were the evil imperialists the terrorism enablers in Canada and France think we are, the first thing we would do is occupy Alberta.

Of course this would make the Albertans pretty happy from what I gather.

I thought the word "Evil" was too simplistic. Not nuanced enough.

Well, as long as they think we're evil we might as well invade, strip her forests, suck her oil and colonize her beautiful wilderness. Who would stop us?

Who would stop us?

My main money would be on winter.

I might put a buck or two on blackflies.

Don't confuse the left with logic or reason. They are immune to reality, they have been shielded from it by their parasitic dependence on the productive class. That makes me wonder if the above should be a policy question.

Spineless Canadian's taking another poll. . .Who really cares what their teen population thinks. It'd be interesting to know how many Canadian's come to the United States in the winter months, or come here for medical care on a regular basis.

From MuchMusic. The ignorant veejays (none older than 26) constantly engage in anti-American prattle (particularly that Strombolopolous dork).

Please pay no attention to this as our teens know next to nothing.

They don't stand a chance. Our school system is run by big labour. Our news media is admired by Susan Sarandan (sp?). They are deplorable. I can't tune into the Canadian news any longer as it makes my blood boil. Our socialist government has banned Fox News up here!

I am constantly teaching my two teens to stand up for America. We fly Old Glory up here at our house and take a certain amount of grief for it. We have deep gratitude for America. We know you are the brave ones, fighting for our freedom and way of life. We know that when terror strikes here, we will be begging for your help. Knowing what I know of America, you will likely give it, just because that's the way you are.

Some of us up here are ashamed of Canada for not standing firmly beside you. My teens go to a private Christian school, and even there they were in rather heated debates all year for standing up for America. Sadly, they were pretty much the only ones...but I was proud of them.

We still grieve when we see pictures of those towers burning. I cried for a week after 9/11. We will never forget.

And for what it's worth, I think Alanis Morrisette is "evil"!

That's too bad. The libs are just full of propaganda. It seems like lying is a big part of it. Sooner or later they will evaporate.

Fortunate enough for America, the French-Canadian youths will never go to war against the United States. They will surrender quickly to Triumph the Insult Dog.

Haven't we been told that there is no such thing as good and evil? Where are those ubiquitous gray areas?

Further to my post #32....

My teen son went to Columbus, Ohio, for four days with his concert band from school in May. He LOVED America. He said the people he stayed with were wonderful to them. The band played at a very large mall just outside Columbus, and the people were terrific (knowing the band was from Canada!). He was very impressed with everything he experienced. He loved America even more. Thank you.

I wish there were more like you... We need all the friends we can get in these days. But then again, maybe we'll end up like the Israelis and be respected and feared rather than liked. Sad, but possibly necessary. If thats evil, than I guess I'm all for evil.

Yep, better to be respected than 'liked'. 'Liking' is fickle. Respect stays as long as you earn it. Those Mafia guys, crooks though they are, do have a point about 'being respected'.

I wonder how many of these Canadian teens realize that their nation has been able to remain an impotent military power because of the protection of the USA.
But they think America is "evil".

How typical of liberal ingrates to attack those who protect them from TRUE evil in the world.
