I agree. Bush is competitive in California, has been for some time. The reason Rob Reiner et al were so vitriolic in their opposition to the recall of the corrupt incompetent Gray Davis is that they could see what the possible consequence could be.

Gore barely campaigned in California, and spent very little money there, regarding it (correctly) as locked up in his favor. Kerry has raised more money than GWB now, but will need to spend it in the expensive California campaign market -- because, if he loses California, he's all done. He's all done anyway, but California makes or breaks him, since he doesn't have Florida or Texas.

Sidebar -- Kerry's no longer the financial underdog, which pulls another rug out from under another of his very shallow, superficial campaign. And it underscores the apparent fact that special interests and filthy rich are disproportionately supporting Kerry.
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent

"There's no dreaming here, thanks. I believe Bush has a good shot in California, and if he spends an appropriate amount of time campaigning there, he can win it."

Oh, how I hope you are right!

I have a funny feeling Michigan will be this year's Florida... look for voter fraud EVERYWHERE with union influence. Of course, the UAW is too stupid to realize that Kerry will kill their industry.

Michigan won't be this year's Florida for the simple reason that it won't make a difference. If Bush is close in Florida, he's already won IA, MN, WI, OH, PA and won the election easily.

Based on what? Last time he won FL, yet lost IA, MN, WI and PA.

Now I agree that Dubya has a legit shot at all the above listed states, but I don't agree with your extension of his Florida standing.

Well, Kerry's beaten Bush's 2000 record; he hasn't surpassed the amount Bush has now. The last figure I saw was $200 million, and that was a few months ago before the ad campaigns began. I'm not sure how much they have now, but Bush is pretty good at raising funds. I think Kerry's money will begin to come in slower and slower, with less people donating and with less money given per donation.

If we roll together the official contributions with the in-kind (not just union "volunteers", but also the media shills) and shadow orgs, Kerry's probably way over. I wonder what will happen after Kerry-Edwards' monumental defeat?
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent

Nah, if Kerry had more money than Bush, his ads would saturate every channel you could think of as a counter to the ad run Bush's campaign just finished. Since Kerry isn't countering, you have to wonder just what the money is there for. If he's waiting until the fall to spend it, well, Bush will have a similar if not larger figure, and voters will still remember the Bush ads from spring.
