"That is simple to say that life begins at creation, now, here is the real question, when does life aquire a soul."

The first question you need to answer is whether you want to talk religion or you want to discuss the legal issues.

If you want to talk religion, the Catholic church holds that the child gets a soul at conception, so Kerry is in deep doo-doo with his own church.

If you want to talk about the legal issues, I think you need to put aside the religious talk because religions can differ on this issue. From a legal point of view, I think you need to deal strictly with what we know scientifically, which is that a distinctly new individual is created at conception who only needs time and nourishment to continue to grow through the remaining stages of his/her life. Any other conclusion to the issue is just so much sophistry.

Then Kerry is for the right to commit a Homicide.

That's obvious

Kerry Sets Pro-abortion Litmus Test for Judges

NewsMax.com Wires
Monday, Jan. 26, 2004

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Presidential hopeful John Kerry on Monday called himself the only Democrat in the race who hasn't "played games" on abortion.

Kerry, campaigning for votes in New Hampshire's leadoff primary Tuesday, repeated his pledge to appoint to the Supreme Court only those who would support abortion rights.

"That is simple to say that life begins at creation, now, here is the real question, when does life aquire a soul?"

Since I assume you ask this in a Biblical context, you just may want to ask yourself what the Almighty meant when he declared, "I knew you before you were born." Can one "know" what are mere growing cells?

when does life aquire a soul

The soul is life. Without the soul, life doesn't exist. Even in the profoundly damaged and crippled, there is the spark of life.

When Father slipped these surly bonds, I recognized that at a gut level. The spark failed. And humanity has the ability to recognize life. It's part of who/what we are.

A more interesting philosophical question might be about whether dogs have souls. Because, even if they don't, they have the power to jack with our souls. Seriously. I'm (finally) ok with losing dad. What will I do when Randy is gone?

That is a tough question, to know some one before they are born, as in gestation or when the mind is concience.

Kerry opposes abortion, but supports the right for women to choose one? Oh I get it....he is very moral because HE would never have one. What a guy.

"That is a tough question..."

Right you are. It is in the grappling with such ideas, concepts and beliefs that mankind defines its uniqueness among all living forms.

He has doomed his campaign. He can't win without the breed-em-and-kill-em crowd.

That is simple to say that life begins at creation, now, here is the real question, when does life aquire a soul?

That's an easy one for Kerry to answer: when that life registers as a Democrat.

I do not know when a fetus feels pain, do you?

By the seventh week of development, the unborn baby has pain receptors on his face, and over his entire body by the 20th week. Between the 20th and 30th weeks, when the outermost layer of the skin is still very thin and nerve fibers are closer to the surface than they’ll ever be, that’s when the highest density of pain receptors per square inch of skin is found. Pain inhibitory mechanisms do not begin to develop until the 32nd to 34th weeks. Therefore, the baby between 20 and 32 weeks of gestation experiences a much more intense pain than older infants, children or adults. That does not mean that the unborn baby cannot feel pain earlier but that, since obviously he cannot talk and tell us, that is as early as we can know with certainty that he or she feels pain.

This is the whole idea of the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act (S. 2466, H.R. 4420). This bill would require every abortionist to provide, whenever a woman seeks an abortion past 20 weeks after fertilization, specified information about the capacity of her unborn child to experience pain during the abortion, after which the woman must either accept or refuse (by signing a form) the administration of pain-reducing drugs directly to the unborn child. The bill would apply to all abortions past 20 weeks, regardless of the method used.

Then by what you say, animals have souls?? Not that I disagree. Or agree.

I'm sure next we'll hear that Kerry is claiming to be pro Bush, just to come of as a normal American.

"On abortion, I myself, by belief and upbringing, am opposed to abortion but as a legislator, as one who is called on to pass a law, I would find it very difficult to legislate on something God himself has not seen fit to make clear to all the people on this earth. . . ."
_____________________________________________________

No wonder he can not as a legislator bring himself to be against terrorists who cut off peoples heads because they think God himself told them to? Afterall since God himself has not seen fit to make it clear to all people on this earth that they should not cut off someone's head in God's name, how could John al Querry as a legislator bring himself to legislate on such an issue.

RBA, you said you were an athiest at one time ... I'm curious as to whether or not you would classify atheism as a religion.

He knows us before we are born, because He knows who those "mere cells" are, and who they will become.

The rest of his position is undoubtedly, "...but I don't think I have the right to impose my views on any woman." Blah yada puke. Nothing here. They all know full well that life begins at conception. They know full well that what they advocate is taking a life. They just don't care.
