Well, to tell you the truth, if you talk in a precisely medical sense, internal organs form and heart beats @ 6 weeks but a responsive nervous system is in place @ 10 weeks. That would be the time when a measurable response to pain would occur.

Try to remember that EVERYTHING you were taught in a "precise medical sense" was taught to you by people who have a vested interest in promoting the murder of the unborn child in the womb.

Try also to remember that every fact promulgated by the pagan religion of science is subject to future revision, and that there is some very interesting revisionism going on in the "science" of early childhood development; in particular, you might want to click on the first of the Shockwave Files below [11 weeks] to see what that "responsive nervous system" of yours is up to:

Smiling foetus images fuel abortion debate
03.07.2004
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/storydisplay.cfm?storyID=3576198

Vivid images of unborn babies stretching and chuckling are threatening to reignite the abortion debate.

The images, captured using new 3D/4D ultrasound scanning, give an unprecedented peek into the hidden world of unborn babies. They show foetuses as young as 12 weeks stretching, kicking and leaping around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement.

So lifelike are the images that they have aroused international media attention. Now, anti-abortion groups are claiming the images are further evidence unborn babies should be granted the same rights as other human beings.

Independent columnist Johann Hari describes the photos as the "best propaganda weapon in decades" for anti-abortion groups. "Most people understandably feel concern when they see these photographs ... because they think it is a person like you and I, a being that wants to go on living."

Hari warns an "anti-choice" storm is coming in the wake of the pictures. The images of older foetuses smiling and yawning make late abortions increasingly untenable, he says.

He suggests abortions after 18 weeks should be banned. "This reform would batten down the moral hatches for the anti-choice storm heading our way."

When similar images were released in September last year, they prompted a flurry of responses from anti-abortion lobbyists. ProLife Party spokeswoman Julia Millington described the images as showing "the delightful reality of the humanity of the unborn baby. We cannot believe that anybody could continue supporting abortion when they see these extraordinary pictures."

Even the doctor who produced the scans - Stuart Campbell of the Create Health clinic in London - has said he believes the normal 24-week legal limit for terminations should be reassessed. "The more I study foetuses the more I find it quite distressing to terminate babies who are so advanced in terms of human behaviour."

Dr Campbell has just released a book of the images called Watch Me Grow.

The pictures reveal babies can open their eyes from 18 weeks. Until recently, many doctors thought eyelids remained fused until 26 weeks. Others show foetuses exhibiting typical baby behaviour, including smiling, crying and hiccupping.

Dr Campbell captured the images using a 3D scanning technique his clinic has used since 2002. The 3D ultrasound takes a volume of echoes which can be stored digitally and shaded to produce a vivid likeness of the foetus. In 4D scans, these pictures can be seen moving in real time, showing the activity of the unborn baby.

In New Zealand, Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child secretary Philip Lynch has welcomed the images. "I think it highlights, for people who were not previously aware, the humanity of the child."

However, Auckland University head of obstetrics and gynaecology Peter Stone is sceptical whether the images contribute anything concrete to the abortion debate.

"We've been through this 30 years ago [when babies were viewed using ultrasound]. It's a non sequitur argument because the foetus doesn't have legal rights in Britain or New Zealand."

3D imaging has been available in New Zealand for about three years, but it is not provided as a routine service.

Professor Stone says the technology has limited clinical applications. "You can make pretty pictures but whether that actually makes a difference is another matter."

He argues against using 3D and 4D scanning equipment. They can result in unnecessary risk and use up resources that are needed more elsewhere.

Right you are. These people understand each other. Their public words (or private) mean nothing. You say what you have to say.

It is conservatives who, for the most part, take people at their word. The spoken word means something. People don't expect that from the left. That's just the way it is. They are terribly comfortable with deceit. Shameful.

my FRiend, you seem to have misunderstood my posting. I was in NO WAY esposing ANY support for the abortion-rights crowd. I was simply stating something in response to another individual's somewhat sarcastic question about "fetuses" feeling pain. I am very much a PRO-LIFE person, and God would have it no other way. Please be a little more hesitant about jumping the gun next time.

Sorry.

Did offer a good excuse to post some pretty pictures, though.

PS: Be sure to save the pictures and the Shockwave Videos to your hard drive; stuff like that invariably gets removed from the web, and then you don't have it to show to people.

It's just the culmination of post-modernism and the moral relativism that now passes for right and wrong. What Kerry implies is that abortion is wrong, for him - not necessarily for anybody else. This leaves room for other opinions and diversity without any of that nasty judgement stuff that the religious right is always pushing. In this way he can continue to criticize the pro-life folks and, when needs be, snear upon the pro-choice folks. He is like catsup left out too long - luke warm.

I looked it up and except for Osama bin Laden he opposes the death penalty in all cases and wants to see it eliminated. So he favors not killing criminals who have done horrific crimes as a punishment for their crimes after a trial and full protection of the judicial system; but even though he believes life begins at conception he's not willing to offer that same protection against for a totally innocent life. I guess he is being pragmatic he couldn't be elected as a Democratic politician in Massachusetts or any other liberal enclave unless he held these contradictory beliefs. Obviously he doesn't vote for what he believes in only what will get him ahead. Of course that is his track record. God help this country if he's elected.

I used to kid myself with this line of reasoning, but it just doesn't wash. Murder is murder is murder, Johnny.

Why thank you Slick Willard! How very kind of you. I just want you to know that I am very grateful to America for standing up and fighting for freedom. I understand the threat to the free world and am ashamed of what Canada has done by not boldly standing by America as the Brits did.

The attitude of many Canadians frustrates and saddens me. I speak out on behalf of America every chance I get. I fly Old Glory. My teenage son and daughter constantly defend America. I still grieve whenever I see pictures of 9/11. I will never forget. God bless you, America and your president.

If he believes that life begins at conception, but isn't willing to fight for those lives, then how can he be expected to fight for our lives as Commander in Chief?

I thought Kerry was a man of all seasons, but he sounds more irresolute, indecisive, uncertain and weak. Qualities that make a poor leader. How did he command his swift boat?

The left couldn't care less what Kerry says. It only matters that they know he would never do anything to outlaw abortion.

You're correct, of course. The left really doesn't mind their politicians and leaders lying...they're used to it. (Kerry, Clinton, Gore, Dean, Clark, Moore...the list goes on)

"This one is VERY clever. It appeases the Chrisitan Right somewhat.

True.

Since Arlen Specter did much the same earlier this year, can we now expect Rick Santorum and GW Bush himself to urge support for John Kerry?
