Nunez Says "No July 4th Celebration in Assembly"

Assembly Speaker and Democrat, Fabian Nunez refused to allow an American Hero to speak to the Assembly Monday, June 28th. Speaker Nunez became intolerant with the speaker and forced the former POW to return to 'solitary confinement' in the governor's conference room down the hall and away from the green carpet of the assembly. Seems to me that Fabian Nunez has a problem with a patriotic, war hero - why?

Republicans wanted to have a "July 4th Celebration" inside of the State Assembly, but Democrat Speaker Fabian Nunez was concerned about the 'content' of an the invited guest speaker (Navy Adm. Jeremiah Denton and former US Senator) to the assembly to talk about the foundation of our country, our military, the Vietnam War Vet, his tenure as a former POW and an 'American Hero'.

Denton is a former POW, held captive for seven years in Vietnam. He was in solitary confinement for four of those seven years, tortured for the duration. He is know as a hero for his defiance to his captors in blinking the word 'torture' in Morse Code to a French camera crew, signaling to the nation and the world that the American POW's were being treated brutally tortured in the prison camp. He is also a former US Senator!

According to Nunez and the Democrats, a former POW and recognized military hero CANNOT speak in the Assembly to celebrate our Independence because of his religious beliefs and possible expression. Denton believes in the Judea-Christian principals as our countries foundational driving force. He quotes former Presidents and American leaders, sharing his love for God and country.

Who is intolerant now?

What are they afraid of on the 'left side of the isle'?

When we have current US Military personnel being held captive in a war on terrorism, Speaker Nunez and the Democrats scream 'separation of church and state' to cancel the celebration.

Here is the email from Speaker Fabian Nunez's office:

"Problems have arisen both with regards to the spirit, content and participation of various individuals with regard to the ceremony on June 28th. More importantly this celebration was intended to celebrate the Fourth of July. The celebration was represented as one resolution, a couple of speakers on each side of the resolution and a song. It has now turned into a ceremony more in line with Veterans Day and with ideological overtones that were not presented or agreed to. We are hoping these issues can be resolved - if not I doubt the Speaker will ok the proceedings."

Let's see if I understand this...

The Democrats accuse President Bush of trying to stifle, silence, free speech with 'his' anti-terrorism efforts, while at the same time oppressing the free speech of a Vietnam War former POW because they're afraid he might mention God and country.

Bush is trying to stop terrorism. What are the Democrats trying to stop?

Democrats accuse the Republicans of dogmatic thinking because they include religious considerations in their political thinking, but Senator John Kerry says - as a matter of personal policy - he won't 'cross any union picket line'.

So who is REALLY displaying hard-headed thinking?

Who is REALLY inflexible?

And I say again...Republicans are blasted when they include God in their thinking. Do we really want a President who chooses 'Unions' over God when it comes to taking a stand?

Not only would they not let Mr. Denton speak, Senator Campbell, a guest on the Hugh Hewitt radio show, noted that the California Assembly celebrates Cinco de Mio (sp?) and and Martin Luther King, but never the 4th of July. This is disgusting.

Democrats ARE disgusting by their very nature. They hate everything we stand for.........and love everything we despise. They have morphed into a literal blight on our society.

Biography
Speaker Fabian Núñez (D- 46th District) was first elected to the California State Assembly in 2002. He was sworn in as the State's 66th Speaker on February 9, 2004.

Speaker Núñez, described by colleagues as affable, likable and pragtic, has laid out clear goals, including the restoration of voters' confidence in government, the renewal of the Assembly's reputation as the house of ideas, and to work in a bipartisan fashion to benefit all Californians.

The son of immigrants, Núñez learned the values of hard work and compassion from his parents as they worked endlessly to support their 12 children. "My parents had very little schooling, but they were my greatest teachers," the Speaker has said. "My mom taught me the values of compassion and caring. My dad taught me thvalue of hard work. For more than 50 years, they worked night and day to support our family."

Speaker Núñez is guided by the values of hard work and compassion to this day. In his February 2004 inaugural speech, Speaker Núñez called on members of the Assembly to commit to passing a budget that's balanced and on time. "Democrat and Republican alike, we all are ready to face the challenge of balancing the budget head-on. And we must start now," the Speaker said. Núñez has already called on the Assembly budget committee and its subcommitts to hold full and thorough hearings immediately. "Acting swiftly does not mean acting carelessly. The actions we take to balance our budget today should not dash our hopes for tomorrow."

While calling the budget the greater challenge facing the Assembly, the Speaker has pointed to the challenge of reforming workers' compensation. To meethat challenge, the Speaker convened the Assembly's Insurance Committee to find reforms that balance the needs of small business owners with the needs of workers who are injured on the job.

In addition, Speaker Núñez is actively searching for solutions to California's long-term energy needs. He has already introduced legislation, the Reliable Electric Service Act of 2004 (AB 2006), to create a clear, durable regulatory framework to stimulate much-needed investment in new power resources while also putting California back in charge of its energy future. During his firstear in office, Assemblyman Núñez earned several legislative victories, including measures signed into law providing greater rights to renters when nuisances or substandard conditions are not corrected and ensuring school bathrooms are given priority when maintenance funds are spent.

Throughout his first term, he has worked closely with the Central City Association - a business membership organization representing more than 300 businesses, trade associations and non-profits employing more than 250,000 people in Los Angeles County - to improve the business climate in his district.

Prior to being elected to the Assembly, from 2000 to 2002, Núñez was government affairs director for the Los Angeles Unified School District, where he secured millions in funding for low-performing schools, school construction and health insurance for children.

Earlier, from 1996 to 2000, he served as political director for the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.

Speaker Núñez, 37, earned bachelor of arts degrees in political science and education from Pitzer College in Claremont. He resides in downtown Los Angeles and has three children.

Oh, come on people. Jeremiah Denton wasn't denied the opportunity to speak because he was a war hero. He was denied the podium because he was a former Republican US senator.

Is there no one here who knows how politics works?

William Penn said, "Men must choose to be governed by God or condemn themselves to be ruled by tyrants." And when asked what caused the Civil War, President Lincoln said, "We have forgotten God."

I agree with you. The left wants us to forget the moral impact of our behavior. There is something inherent about our military that promotes virtuous behavior, personal integrity, taking responsibility over ones behavior, and self-discipline. This is why I am hoping that through the power of the information age we can give encouragement to those who make sacrifice to protect our freedom. You and I must do our part to promote moral causes, shine the light of truth on the practicioners of tyranny, and help bring forth freedom around the world. And, I might add, it my conviction that that freedom should come from God--not men.

In these days we (not you or me) have not only forgotten God, we are by our new standards of government and culture rejecting him as the acknowledged creator and as the endower of our rights. As a result, we are suffering cultural decay and human unhappiness. The decline of the institution of the family is the most obvious result. The other is when men call for more governmental power over their lives. Such governmental power has little patience for non-compliant entities and, like William Penn predicted, acts with tyranny. Joe Stalin showed us how little patience he had with noncompliance. Marxist socialism is being promoted by the left to help them eject the Judeo-Christian culture that has served generations very well. Why they are doing it? The answer is simple: to wield unchallenged power over huge populations. It was that Christian culture, you should know, that put a halt to the the slavery of blacks in America. It is that Judeo-Christian culture that permeates every aspect of our culture. It is this fundamental foundation that enables the free-market, capitalistic system to exist as the driving economic force around the world.

The Lefty's Marxist Socialism opposes capitalism. It's goal is to bring about the defeat of capitalism. One way it can do this is to bring about the moral decay that occurs when the splendid moral system of Judeo-Christianity is ejected from our society. Without this stability, capitalism will fail: the thieves will undermine that system of trust necessary for capitalism to work. However, the left does not realize that it is promoting its own slavery. It is through the slavery of fascism that their Marxist system works.
