California Road Trip to Reagan Library
FReeperville | 7/1/04 | Rabid Dog

Posted on 07/01/2004 8:03:11 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

We are coordinating a visit to the Reagan Library on August 1. The Library opens at 10:00. Suggest we meet in Simi Valley for a late breakfast (8:30) and head over. Bar-b-que to follow at Rabid Dog's. Get yourself on the ping list so we can advise you of details as they develop. Plans are to make arrangements for a special tour. The Reagan Library is a beautiful facility and well worth a trip. Ventura County has beaches, mountains, etc and is a nice place for a weekend get-away.

That's what I remember. . . muffins.

Eggs & Things is about 3 miles away (in the Target Shopping Center on Cochran off the Sycamore exit)

Marie Callendars sounds like a good choice -- right off the Madera Avenue exit on 118 and Madera then takes you straight to the library.

I'm there. I can't stay long. I don't want to risk any California infections, good or bad.

That's nice you did that for the kids. Its a wonderful place and I love living so near it. Some of our FReepers in Ventura County are practically in the back yard of the facility.

We're going! My daughter (10) and I are leaving the last week in July from Richmond, VA. Our plan= drive West until we hit water then go South. Unformatted, 4 weeks, duffel bag in the Jeep kindof vacation.

I believe that Marie Callendar's would be our best bet for easy access. Plus decent food.

I don't know, but I get all the mailings from the Library. I am in NY, I have to make another trip out there when that pavilion opens.

Suggestion!

We take up a collection
and make a donation to the Library
on behalf of Free Republic.

There are many ways and projects we can donate to.
I particularly like the "School Bus Program" or planting a tree in "Ron's Orchard".

Check it out here.

How long was your wait? Last Sunday there were 9,000 people through the Library.

didn't wait at all, actually. we got there about 5 minutes before it opened, there was a short line at the door, but moved right in as soon as they opened the doors. it was a week day, so that may make a difference.

We cannot get away until fall. Is it possible that FReepers can do this again? b

R.D., I've been there so often they almost know my name. It's my favorite place to take out of town guests. I'd like to join with you all but I'll be out of town at that time. Have fun, y'all.

Thanks for the second thread RD. I like the way this is shaping up. The late breakfast sounds good.

My cable modem seems to be stabalizing, so perhaps I can join the fun on these threads.
