ISLAMABAD: In his inimitable fashion, Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf has dropped yet another bomb.

Addressing a news conference at the Pakistan Presidential Palace on Wednesday evening, Musharraf said, "I am giving you breaking news that Pakistan will conduct an important nuclear test in the next two months."

According to Xinhua , Musharraf refused to give further details.

However, Pakistan daily The News reported that the 'extremely important substantive test' was most likely a longer range missile test. Musharraf also added that hectic arrangements were already under way.

"Chairman of Nescom Dr Samar, KRL Chairman Javed Mirza as well as PAEC Chairman Pervez Butt are aware of what is going on. Everything is being manufactured," the daily quoted Musharraf as saying. Musharraf also completely ruled out the rolling back of nuclear programme in Pakistan.

"Those who think so are just mad, we will never roll back our nuclear programme and would continue developing credible deterrence and missile program," News Network International agency quoted Musharraf as saying.

"It has become a joke that people with negative minds are propagating the ill-notions of roll-back," added the President.

Pakistan had conducted five nuclear tests in May 1998, immediately after India carried out similar tests.

International concern on the safety of Islamabad's nuclear programme has been on the rise since a scandal, involving the father of the country's nuclear programme, A Q Khan, broke out earlier this year.

Khan had confessed to having sold nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Malaysia.

Why is Pakistan coddled with generous foreign aid and encouraged to have nuclear weapons? Can someone please explain to me?

They run one of the ugliest fundamentalist regimes in the Middle East. Neither Iraq, nor Iran have a patch on them.

Pakistan has a long way to go. The Mother of All Nuclear Tests was conducted by the Russians in 1961 when they set off a device that yielded 50 megatons. It was originally supposed to be 100 megatons, but they did something to scale it back. Our biggest was under 20 megatons.

BEcause then they can use the money to train jihadis to attack America and her allies. Because they can use those nukes and send it to American enemies like Iran, North Korea, Irq etc.

Well, you're mostly right -- Pak is NOT part o the Middle East -- it's part of the Indian subcontinent, something they try hard to forget.

Secondly, you are abso- - lutely correct when you say that they run one of the ugliest slamofascist states around --> in IRq under Saddy and in Iran now, Christians can live and worship pretty well. Not so in our "allies" Pak and Saudi A where they are routinely accused of blasphemy and executed, where they areraped, massacred and treated as third rate citizens (no sorry second rate, the remaining Hindoos are treated as third rate where they are kept as slaves, something with chains on their feet to work for the slammie masters)

i think the Israelis already have. What we need to do is somehow eliminate those pak nukes and missiles and then give India a free hand.

Nah, you forget that the Pak "tests" were actually trial runs for Chinese made nuclearr weaponss, made in China and probably with instructions in Chinese -- and like most China made stuff a few boobed -- out of the 6 tests 2 flumped and the others were way below expectations.

Nah, I'm guessing this time it's different -- they will use made in China nukes but they'll write Allahu Akbar on the side

Funny? Not really. The Pakis got North Korean missiles (in exchange for sellign them nukes) and renamed them with Paki names and called it their missile development....

what a bunch of con artists...

3."I want all talk of nuclear profileration involving Pakistan wiped out(though most of it actually is )"
