They say people need to look seriously at toll
Lahser High School students compare the death toll from the 9/11 terrorist attacks to the toll from alcohol in public service announcement to be shown in Detroit.
Check your liver.
I agree. Ban alcohol. After all, Americans have way to many liberties.
< /sarcasm >.
Drug of Choice Bump
Do they not teach about Prohibition and how well it worked in skewl anymore. Wait that would be history, never mind.
We had that already. They called it "prohibition". It did not work.
File this story away in the "earnest high school do-gooder" file.
You should go over to the Internet Porn Law thread. Lots of "Nanny State prohibitionists" over there.
Drunk drivers kill innocent victims too.
I'm surprised they haven't outlawed alcohol by now on this basis.
Yeah, those PSAs really take their toll, don't they?
Folks here laugh at such efforts, until their loved ones are killed by a drunk driver. Drink all you want in the privacy of your own home but don't take it on the road.
MOLON LABE!
But seriously, they seem to be talking about alcohol abuse, which is a problem that should be addressed. I don't think the government is the right tool, though.
What's up with these kids, are they drunk??
The War on Drugs is working so well, it's only logical to extend it to a War on Alcohol.
It's not as if we've tried it before. </sarcasm>
no, what we need is for the country to stop promoting booze as being the venue for socialization among teen agers and young people. It can start on college campuses. Alcohol should not be held up as a high social virtue among the young people in our society.
Booze can be deadly in both the short and long term.
We don't need a country full of middle age alcoholics. Any (sober)eastern European or Russian can tell you about the hardships that falls upon a society where getting drunk is considered an accomplishment. Full blown alcoholism in middle age adults is not pretty, and alcoholism should not be promoted as hip.
I have nothing against "responsible" drinking, this is a free society. What adults do in their own privacy is none of my concern.
But if you or someone in your family was ever a full blown alcoholic, you might not think that boozin' is all the party like it's portrayed in today's American culture. If you don't know an alcoholic, go to a MADD meeting and you'll walk away with another perspective.
IMHO.
Maybe it is one of those "zero tolerance" schools.
It's Deja' vu all over again!........Thanx Yogi.......
