If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??
This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.
Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.
If I could, I would!
I may be old and slow, but take away my HRT and I can be frightenly cranky.

At age 48, my IRR status as a Navy Reserve CDR/05 just "expired" (i.e. 24 yrs since I was first commissioned). Reason I didn't return to (at least) voluntary "Select Reserve" was that I was 30-40 lbs over weight. (Hard to get down to 210 lbs when you're 6'2" and over 40 yrs.)
Yeah, I'd return to active duty tomorrow, in a heart beat, if they wanted me. I have regrets...

My husband would go. And I would support him fully.
Army; "the Army is interested in speaking with you about serving"
NS; "I am very interested but I fear that I am too old, 34".
Army; "Just in time"
I received information and am trying to work things out in my life so that things at home are/will be taken care of and that my other half will be OK.
She is not happy about what I plan on doing but it is important.
Almost 41 here, sounds like fun...
where do i sign up....age 45
Age 44. I would go.
I'd give them ANOTHER 15 years of my life.
Gladly.
Without reservation.
Would have enlisted on 12 Sep 2001, 'cept I was 40 years old.
Enlisted shortly after the Iran Hostage crisis, but the Iranians were scared into behaving by Reagan...
Yes, but it would have to be driving or a desk job due to my physical limitations. I'm 39 years old.
35, 50 pounds overweight, asthma, 2 bad knees (3 surgeries), - they wouldn't have me, and with good reason I'd be way too much of liability.
Back when I was 18, the USAF were quite interested in having me sign up until they became aware of my little patches of dry skin.
The only problem is that now my little sister (the Major) would out rank me.
I will always regret that I "came of age" at the end of the Viet Nam era and was too stupid to see the value in our military.
I would go right now if not for the fact that at my age and health I would be a liability, not an asset.
leadpennies are too damned old.
