If there were no restrictions on age, weight, fitness, etc., would you sign up to join the War on Terror??
This is a vanity poll, due to the news today that the Army may be dipping into the Individual Ready Reserve pool. Several Freepers have indicated they would go if called upon, but they don't think they will be called due to their age.
Please post ONLY ONCE, and ONLY IF YOU WOULD GO, so that we can easily see the tally by looking at the number of replies.
BTW, THANK YOU for your service to our beloved country!
Calling someone a 'jerk off' betrays a lack of discipline.
Dittos
Only difference is that I'm a year older.
Sure would. I love this country.
I can shoot well enough to win a FReeper postal match, too. :-) Lemme at 'em.
Age 38 here, yes I would go if they would have me!
Sometimes I think I should have joined up after high school instead of going to College.
Sinclair's refinery isn't far from me and I saw the giant dinosaur at the NY World's Fair in 1964 :)
Age 49, Am in good shape and would go. The draft ended during my senior year in high school, and the peace accords were signed and the troops came home the spring of that senior year. I went to a ROTC camp at Fort Knox for six weeks but then wimped out of going ahead and enlisting in the Army. Big mistake.
My son is a Marine reservist and is going to deploy to SW Asia in a few months leaving his wife and two toddlers. Pray for him. And pray for victory.
Yes, but it's easy for me to say. I'm 50, but can do 20 push-ups in a flash.
Yes, but at 62 I am a bit late.
I'm a 60 year old Nana and I would go in a heartbeat! Wouldn't have to ask me twice!
God speed!
This thread has been very touching.
Besides the moral support that you provide, you're all also contributing by working hard and paying taxes. Without your financial support my husband and other members of the military wouldn't be able to do their jobs. This is a team effort.
So thank you to all of you for paying my husband's salary.
:-)
Good. There are other ways to serve your country. We still don't have enough backseat drivers and armchair generals. Somebody's gotta do it!
I've been trying to screw up my gumption and leave a message with my prior service recruiter. I'm more afraid they'll say no than yes. ;)
Age 52. Locked, cocked, and ready to ROCK!
I'll even dedicate my first round to the memory of CHESTY PULLER!
SEMPER FI!
LET'S ROLL!!
I'm 50, fat and bald(ing) but I'd go in a heartbeat. As long as W was the one asking me.
I applied to CIA after 9/11. Would go in a minute.
Right now, no questions asked. I'd go. My old MOS or present occupation, both needed
I tried to sign up, but they said I was too old.
