He won. Along with the likes of Carolyn "Damn Americans" Parrish.

Sh*t.

He said he would change the way things were done in Ottawa, but he resorted to the oldest, shoddiest political tricks in the book -- associating his opponents with images of gunfire, weeping women and a disintegrating Canadian flag.

Um, OK...but it worked. This guy, like his Democratic Party brethren here in the US, isn't about to take seriously any criticism of his means as long as the ends were achieved. Losing an election is the only thing that gets a socialist's attention.

The liberals don't care HOW they win, as long as they win. To them the ends ALWAYS justify the means.

I tend to defer to you two on most things Canadian. What do y'all think about this? Is this good, bad, or indifferent for the conservative cause in Canada?

I know it's not "too damn" good because the conservatives lost . . . but is it a total loss or are the Liberals now on notice at least?

The folks of Alberta . . . how are they taking the constant beating they get from the Federal Government? The Socialists who care so much about their fellow man? I'm a dreamer . . . I still think Alberta will become numero fifty-one in my lifetime -- I'm fifty-ish.

Where do the conservatives go from here?

Its interesting that Canukians continue to prop up LEFTISTS in other countries as well as at home. All the blathering like, "We're really gonna make change this time around..." is more of the same old same old.

The day that the Secession Party of Canada or The Republican Party Of Canada or the Republican Party of Ontario is actually organized with a petition and registered with Elections Canada (some relatives still stuck in your filthy little backwater of a country who can still read how to do things told me this is the method), might be the day you socialist weasels actually mean what you say. Until then, its just the same old bullsh!t on a different day.

Or are y'all waiting for America to pull your collectivist asses out of the fire ... (ie. Let others do the heavy lifting and y'all continue to ride the "FREE SH!T GRAVY TRAIN" )?

Mark Steyn's take this morning:

The morning after: You know, I don't feel so bad after all. 135 Liberals plus 19 NDP could prove mighty frustrating for Paul Martin. And my lowballing of NDP seats looks a lot better than all those TV networks declaring they'd "won" 24, 25, 25 or Jack Layton announcing they'd doubled their ridings. Off to write it up for The Western Standard. More later.

Martin didn't plan to wake up with the Bloc in the kingmaker's role in the next House Of Commons. There's not much to crow about; his party got the plurality of seats cause most Canadians preferred sticking with the devil they know and its not exactly a national vote of confidence in the Liberals. They didn't win outright a majority of the popular vote and those Lefties repelled by their corruption and incompetence drifted either to the New Democrats or the Bloc. Sure, the Liberals kept the bulk of seats in Ontario but bottom line, there's no national mandate for the Prime Minister and his party.
