Because they were sucked in by one of the worst Cults to hit society.... I will think ISLAM is a viable faith when they all say that Israel belongs to the Jews given to them by the GOD of the universe, when they stop killing there women, stonings, be-headings etc....
There are those who choose to distort Christianity just as there are those who twist Islam. There have been many scholars who have found contradictions within the Bible - such as one of the greatest lawyers of all time - Clarence Darrow. You may not agree with them - but that doesn't mean they won't have followers who do.
I feel this uprising has more to do with power and control than it does religion.
