A new type of ultrasound scan has produced the vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus "walking" in the womb.
The new images also show foetuses apparently yawning and rubbing its eyes.
The scans, pioneered by Professor Stuart Campbell at London's Create Health Clinic, are much more detailed than conventional ultrasound.
Professor Campbell has previously released images of unborn babies appearing to smile.
Baby 'walking' in the womb
The images have shown:
* From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement
* From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks
* From 26 weeks, they appear to exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking.
Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth.

LOLOL.......and I thought I had the record with that second smile nearly three years later.........
This picture and the one showing a baby smiling in the womb will do more to convince people that abortion is wrong than anything else.
Nice!
And relevant.
THere is just no excuse for that kind of butchery--none.
And we all know what's happening when their face gets real red!!
This baby's brain has developed sufficiently to enable him apparently to sense the other parts of his body. He can bring his fingertips together so they touch.
Wonderfully awesome! Thank you!
Foetuses as young as 11 weeks have been seen with their thumbs in their mouths. This baby started out sucking his smallest toes and gradually moves on to suck a bigger and better toe.
Protecting pond scum inconveniences YOU, protecting unborn babies inconveniences THEM.....
If abortionists labeled their work properly, they would be called "RIGHT TO KILL" not Freedom to Choose. Say it like it is!!
LOL that is really something! My sisters are twins and spoke for a few years in a "twin speak" that only they understood. Weird...
Hopefully this kind of technology will become more widely known. I think it would be hard for a woman to kill the infant she can see.....if the abortionists will ever allow her to see it. Of course, they aren't the ones whom we will depend on getting the information out.
It's not clear to me how you can infer intent or purpose; the scanner just happened to catch the baby in that position. (One could just as well claim it's evidence that ASL is the natural langauage of babies; he's signing "more"!)
Now, you ought to know that a one-day old baby has no business being on your desk.
My 20 year-old daughter went out of here about 25 minutes ago in a wild, but controlled (only two slammed doors) panic on her way to a job interview, I didn't get a smile or a kiss.
Very perceptive, Some would argue that it (ASL) is...
My first child - one of 5 - smiled at me as I held her, right after the cord was cut, and promptly crapped down my arm. Eighteen years later she's still grinning about it.
Ping for you....
Any more progress on when #3 wants to make her debut?
Semper Fi
Agreed--and the results of observations such as these should be quite fascinating.
