Who would Democrats rather have at their convention? Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) or former Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca? You can bet it's Miller, who would attract many more conservative Democrats to support John Kerry [related, bio] than the endorsement of Iacocca (what did he do, again?) will.Alas, Miller will be busy preparing his speech for the Republican National Convention in New York. And to judge by the reaction of some Democrats, it's quite a coup for the GOP. Miller's decision is a ``shame and a disgrace,'' said Rep. John Lewis (D-Georgia).
Miller has already made no bones about his feelings for the ``out-of-touch, ultraliberal from Taxachusetts'' John Kerry. A prime-time speech by the same man who gave the keynote address for the 1992 nomination of Bill Clinton will hurt. No wonder Democrats are furious.
Give the dems, H'll Zell.
The Democrats can't believe Zell double-crossed them. Its sticking in their craw he's been dead on right about how the party is out of touch with Main Street America.
When I heard about the endorsement, I made my mind up never to buy a Chrysler product.
One has to wonder how much effect this will have on moderate Dems, if any.
Anything that will make the Rats mad is fine with me and makes my day. Zell gets it, the rest don't.
He hasn't been with Chrysler in about a dozen years.
According to the Dims, when a Republican crosses over to the other side it's a courageous thing thing to do. (Jeffords)
When a Democrat decides to follow his conscience it's a ``shame and a disgrace,''.
HYPOCRITES!
You would never know that from the press reports I had heard. Looks as if I am have not been paying tention to the news.
Iacocca is a puffed-up, self important jerk. His 15 minutes of fame happened 40 years ago.
Iacocca is probably getting senile.
The only bad thing about Zell Miller??
I cant vote for him ever again :(
When he retires the state of Georgia, and this country will lose a great man

"He hasn't been with Chrysler in about a dozen years."
...Only because his hand-picked management team sold (out) Chrysler to the Germans!
Iacocca's always been a liberal. And, Chrysler hasn't made a decent product since the mid '60s.
"Miller's decision is a ``shame and a disgrace,'' said Rep. John Lewis (D-Georgia)."
Yes, John, it IS a shame and a disgrace. It is a disgrace that you have so alienated any honorable members of your party that they have to go elsewhere to express themselves, and it is a shame that more don't have the courage to follow (yet).
