Laci and Scott Peterson
June 28, 2004 -- ALMOST as riveting as an Ann Rule book, tonight's A&E special, "The Trial of Scott Peterson, (A Bill Curtis Special Report)," brings us up to the second on the case that has captured the nation.
How could it not?
On Christmas Eve, 2002, adorable "five-foot nothing," pregnant-as-can-be Laci Peterson took her dog for a walk. Whether she walked into the hands of a brutal stranger or was already dead at the hands of her loving husband, Scott, is the question now facing the six women and six men jurors.
(This number is not counting, of course, the country's newest media star, bounced juror Justin Falconer who was thrown off for violating jury ethics. Why haven't they charged him with contempt, by the way instead of letting him be flown around the country to appear on more talk shows than Bill Clinton?) .........

Peterson prosecution faces uphill climb

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- As Scott Peterson's double-murder trial enters its second month, many courtroom observers say the prosecution's case appears to be faltering.
Defense attorney Mark Geragos has used several prosecution witnesses to make his case that the investigation which led to charges Peterson killed his pregnant wife was shoddily executed and designed from the start to implicate Peterson.
Geragos was scheduled to resume his cross examination today of Detective Allen Brocchini, the first investigator assigned to the report that Laci Peterson had vanished. Last week, Geragos got Brocchini to admit to several investigative lapses.
"It's still a horse race.........

Prosecutors have been thrown off kilter by their own witnesses. A juror who was excused blasted their case.
Sure, it's been a rough week for prosecutors in the Scott Peterson double- murder trial in Redwood City, but that's no reason to panic, say legal experts. It's still early in a case that's expected to last months.
"I'm sure the prosecutor has realized that he hasn't come close to proving his case,'' said former San Francisco prosecutor Bill Fazio. "But he should start getting his act together........

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. June 25, 2004 Police said Friday that Scott Peterson's lawyer tried to give jurors the false impression that authorities investigating the death of his pregnant wife conspired to hide a sympathetic witness.
During his questioning Thursday of Detective Allen Brocchini, defense lawyer Mark Geragos got the man to concede that he failed to record a witness who recalled seeing Laci Peterson at the warehouse where her husband stored his small boat the same boat prosecutors claim Scott Peterson hid from his wife so he could use it later to dispose of her body.
Sgt. Ed Steele, a spokesman for the Modesto police department, said Friday that officials detailed that account in other reports provided to the defense. He said Geragos was trying to mislead the jury..........

Modesto police said Friday that Scott Peterson's lawyer tried to trick the jury into believing authorities conspired to hide a sympathetic witness when, in fact, police detailed the account in reports provided to the defense.
It was a blow in the short-term to the prosecution's double-murder case against Peterson because it looked like a detective intentionally deleted the witness account from his report after realizing it didn't fit with their theory that Peterson killed his pregnant wife.
But it may now work in the prosecution's favor as the trial trudges on into its second month, experts said Friday.
During his questioning Thursday of Modesto police Detective Allen Brocchini, defense lawyer Mark Geragos got the man to concede he failed to record a witness who recalled seeing Laci Peterson at the warehouse where her husband stored his small boat -- the same boat prosecutors claim Scott Peterson hid from his wife so he could use it later to dispose of her body.........

I have discerned CC is a democrat...all is explained...;)
The Peterson's ARE on the witness list and Lee Peterson testified in the Prelim. They are definitely under the GAG order.
I pretty much believe that ALL the media are Democraps!!
You are are on safe ground to always suspect it, as the vast majority are.
He also premeditated going "fishing" in the Pacific Ocean south of Point Arguello. That's why he purchased an Ocean Enhancement Stamp. If he had planned on "fishing" in the Bay or Delta he would have purchased a Bay-Delta Sport Fishing Enhancement Stamp. I think our boy chickened out, that big old ocean scared him.

We never, ever hear about HER, do we? But then, we seldom hear from Scott's many half-siblings, either. Janey, remember, is Scott's sister-in-law. We are left to wonder just what those other relatives of Scott's REALLY think of all this. Hmm.

Did I say Janey? Yikes! Susan, Susan Caudillo or something.
Great info...RG!...Buzzm has all the tides, times, temp and dates listed on CTV and I think he probably has a lot of that info on the Crime 2000 board as the posters say they miss his factual info...
The NGs are not being deterrered from "the baby was placed by the murderers on land and above the high tide line"...(The storm, high tide waves placed him there)
I now see where some of those NGs are going.... toward the "Kim McGregor and her Hawaiian looking friends" did it, the police know it and are hiding it to frame poor Scott...My ignore list on that board grows daily. Then there's the Ron Granski did it bunch....I think some accuse the police of doing it!
Hollywood is just one big cesspool, I guess. I was gonna say it's just one big trailer park... but frankly, I think there are plenty of people in trailer parks who are out-and-out heroes/heroines, compared to some of the "celebrities" the public insists on following!
Yes, early on after Amber first became known, we heard that she had recorded her conversations with Scott BEFORE all the Laci stuff happened--but AFTER the incident where Amber herself confronted Scott to tell him she'd found out he was married.
And Juzcuz, in early 2003, there was an NE story about a previous alleged affair of Amber's. In that one, Amber had dated the husband of a pregnant woman named Michelle. During that whole thing, Amber had allegedly met with Michelle (a confrontation where the two argued over Michelle's husband), and Amber taped this conversation she had with Michelle.
So apparently Amber is of the mindset that tape recordings can be good things to have. The obvious possibility that comes to mind is bribery, or something like that.
But we don't KNOW if that's really why Amber taped those mid-December calls. Considering that she also engaged a detective to find out more about her boyfriend Scott, it just begins to look like Amber is kind of conniving. BUT that's probably a good thing--if she had been a totally naive little innocent, SHE might've ended up at the bottom of the Bay, too!
At this point, I feel kind of glad that Amber wasn't just some born-yesterday airhead type!
So the license was purchased on Dec. 20th?
But then when being interviewed about his decision to go fishing Dec. 24th, Scott tells the police, "That was the morning decision"?
Sounds more like "the Dec. 20th decision" to me. Meg, you've got a point. One minute he acts like it was an impulse, then the next minute we find out he bought the license several days in advance. More lying going on.
Thanks for that info, RG! Interesting... we haven't heard this before!
Hi, DA, ...I recall all the "recorded calls before getting the news Scott was married or Laci missing" stories,..I know there was word she talked to a PI,etc....I don't know if this is relevent but I'm sure Geragos will muddy the waters with it...
Broncchini(ignores and hides a critical eyewitness, framing Scott,MUD), Kim M.(burglar, bipolar ,implicates is involved in Laci disappearance..MUD), Amber(is a lying husband stealing Linda Tripp...could be a suspect,MUD)
We are having big thunder here and my electricity and cable may go out..CTV sometimes gets knocked out even if I keep the cable and electricity in these storms(?)...I hope somone listens to the update and give us a court happenings report .
I can't believe I missed the one little update that Court TV had on this case! It was Kimberley Guilfoyle-Newsom's show. Why is it that the minute there is something about this case, suddenly the phone is ringing and the kids just HAVE to talk to me at that moment?? I could see the words on the TV screen, and heard a few words, but, darn it, all the hubbub around here drowned it out!
It was something about Kim McGregor. Someone (was it you MEG?) made a mention of it earlier on the thread here. But I'd love to hear more of what, if anything, came out in testimony about Kim McGregor!
Anyone got more details? I am still mad that I had to miss it!
Here are the suspects in this case according to Geragos -- and so far!
- Amber
- Ron Grantski
- Donny
- The entire homeless population of Modesto
- Drug dealers
- Burglers
- Kim McGregor and the Hawaiian
