WHAT WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT WACO
papillonsartpalace.com ^

Posted on 06/27/2004 7:42:00 PM PDT by MaineVoter2002

Now, with new admissions by the FBI that after six years of denials by Janet "Butch" Reno and the FBI, pyrotechnic tear gas canisters were used on the final day of the 1993 government standoff with the Branch Davidians at Waco, Texas, mistrust of government will justifiably grow, and it should soar among leftists who have been obstinately oblivious to what many view as the totalitarian instincts of the Clinton administration. Even Lynn Samuel's, WABC's super-liberal talk show host, now says she'll stand with Bob Barr and Henry Hyde to impeach this president if it's shown that Bill Clinton knew that incendiary devices were used by government agents at Waco...

Can someone enlighten me as to where the FBI has ever admitted to using incendiary tear gas?

Aren't all gases incendiary, given the proper conditions?

There was a biographical book about Reno (fluff piece) that mentioned she had a 300+ page report on the effects of the gas, but she didn't want to spend the weekend reading it.

The book said she used the gas because her aides (READ: GORELICK) told her it was the proper thing to do, and that it wasn't incendiary.

However, that doesn't fly because Reno has a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

Barajas sounds like the right name ... I remember one boxing "smoker" at Lewis that broke into a riot and he actually got into the middle of it and broke it up.

They finally admitted it after the Texas Rangers found proof that the FBI fired pyrotechnic flares. But the FBI was adamant that the pyrotechnic did not start the fire.

The ex-Senator doing the investigative report chose to suggest "no punishment" for the FBI agent that had lied (to Congress, as I recall) about use of the flares.

This info is in FR archives.

What we do know about the area near Waco is that the Davidian followers didn't care about their children. As much as I didn't like the Clinton administration, I don't have much sympathy for the Davidian folks killing ATF agents. If you (in general) don't like the system, run it through the courts. If you don't respect the courts, then you have a problem with being an American.

That sounds like Lino. He loved organizing his smokers and when the brawls broke out he was always in the middle having fun. Tougest man to understand - he always spoke in a mumble. He could run for days but it used to drive us crazy in Bn runs because he shuffled more than ran ... it just went on and on. I saw him at a reunion a couple of years ago and he is hunchbacked from humping for 35 years with a ruck on his back. He was the hardcore of the hardcore that's for sure.

Clarification -- the FBI admitted using pyrotechnic flares after being caught by the Texas Rangers --but did not admit using incendiary tear gas .

Right here in the USA .... in a secret court ....in 1994.... without legal representation .... I was falsely accused of a crime .... and had my freedom wrongfully taken away from me. I have had to learn the hard way to not "respect" the courts .... and it looks like the courts in Texas aren't respecting the Americans that are Davidians. I would encourage you to read the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence to get a better understanding of your rights and DUTIES as an American.

How many times do we complain about Saddam Hussein who killed his own innocent women and children with gas? How does this make Clinton and Reno any different?

"I don't have much sympathy for the Davidian folks killing ATF agents..."

How do you feel about the BATF firing on a building they knew contained a lot of children -- until the BATF ran out of ammo.

How do you feel about the bullet holes in the ceilings that were fired from helicopters into a building containing many children --- bullet holes were seen and reported by lawyer David DeGuerin (sp?).

Tell us what happened to the front door that would show direction of the initial gunfire.

Want to know another interesting Waco tidbit? Do you know that the man who defended the FBI in Waco and Ruby Ridge was rewarded with the top position? None other than Robert Mueller.

Tell us what you know about the various courts' rulings on the Second Amendment. ---

Tell us what the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals says about the right of an individual to have a firearm. --- If you agree with that, then you are the one with a problem.

The first time I got a real fix on what kind of demon Clinton happened to be was at a press conference trying to dig himself out of the Waco mess. He said something about Koresh being a child-molester and that that was a universally and unimpeachable fact when that what was being just established at that time- facts. It really struck me wrong that he would try to manipulate the perception in such a crass way. See the film Waco: Rules of Engagement. Waco was a heinous abuse of government authority. Federal agents should have gone to jail for a long time.

It was Dick DeGuerin. The other Davidian lawyer, Jack Zimmerman, Col. USMCR(ret) also reported the incoming nature of the rounds that made holes in the ceiling of the Mount Carmel center.

What they admitted to was using pyrotechnic tear gas canisters. Tear gas, which is actually a fine powder, like all suspensions in air, can be highly flameable if the concentrations are right.

They used incendiary tear gas (military tear gas) on a structure separate from the house. This is not a new admission and was made a number of years ago. It was still later than the imediate event but I believe it is in the report by Sen Danforth? There is nothing new here.

Here's the gist of what happened IIRC:
Koresh (a nutball who turned out NOT to be the second coming) had a number of weapons that scared the ATF. The ATF foolishly and poorly executed a search warrant and their foolishness resulted in the deaths ARF agents.

Koresh started the standoff. The FBI HRT took command and borrowed military equipment including both incendiary tear gas and the non-incendiary tear gas used by law enforcemement. The incendiary tear gas was used on some structures away from the main house. They were not used on the primary residence.

When the tank inserted the gas, Koresh's followers ignited the house. The strong winds and sniper fire prevented the fire department from being able to fight the fire and the poeple in the house dies.

This is basically the story. There are lots of other conspiracy minded theories but I haven't heard any credible ones.

(Putting on flame retardant suit now).

Here you go. It was in Danforth's report. AP story from 2000. Breaking news I'm sure.

Dick Morris says Clinton does talk about Waco in his book. Morris advised him to take responsibility for Waco, but Stephanopolous talked him out of it because of the polls. Impeachment was really too good for that scum.
