Illicit sales of uranium from Niger were being negotiated with five states including Iraq at least three years before the US-led invasion, senior European intelligence officials have told the Financial Times.
Intelligence officers learned between 1999 and 2001 that uranium smugglers planned to sell illicitly mined Nigerien uranium ore, or refined ore called yellow cake, to Iran, Libya, China, North Korea and Iraq.
These claims support the assertion made in the British government dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programme in September 2002 that Iraq had sought to buy uranium from an African country, confirmed later as Niger. George W. Bush, US president, referred to the issue in his State of the Union address in January 2003.

Shhhhh. You'll scare people with that kind of talk. If Bush was right then ... (shudder) all kinds of bad things are true ... the media is lying, the Dems are traitors, the UN is worthless, France and Germany stabbed us in the back, Micheal Moore is a liar ...
You're lookin' good, dude. Hang on, that report will be on any minute.
That's nice.
But where were these people, when Bush was being called a liar over this? Why didn't they speak up?

The Enemy Within!!!!
This thread: Intelligence backs claim Iraq tried to buy uranium
That thread: Evidence of Niger uranium trade 'years before war'
Thus no parties need be pooped.
But But But .. Joe Wilson says that's not true
Hmmm .. Maybe he just drank to much mint tea huh ??
sounds of crickets in the air
bttt
Joe Wilson was about as well qualified to investigate this business for the CIA as Michael Moore. The fact that Valerie Plame was allowed to pull off this highly unprofessional dodge is ludicrous.
George Tenet should have been fired the day Bush took office, and someone like Rudy Giuliani with real strength and determination should have been put in charge of cleaning house.
There's a similar mess at the FBI, and NOTHING has been done to fix it.
BUMP for excellence in posting!
#45. Thanks for clearing that up, Imal!!!!:-)
Who did Richard Clark ask, the hotel staff?
You've got that right. A veritable who's who of America's enemy within. And Vermont's own socialist/commie in independent clothing, Bernie Sanders, is hosting their website on his Congressional website. How special.
You wouldn't believe the political anti-Bush spew he gave at the Vergennes Memorial Day Parade. Totally spit on the graves of every vet that ever died for this country. My wife and I wanted to puke.
A well-presented discussion of the things the libs claim, and the evidence that prove they're wrong would work wonders. Much as I like GW, I don't think he is articulate enough to do it.
But Dick Cheney could do it.
Quote"this Niger stories would go over the head of most americans.
we need two rabbits to be pulled from the hat - Osama, or a WMD stockpile in an underground bunker someplace.

YES I AGREE...
Many Americans are too stupid to even care or understand all of this stuff...
as soon as he made the speech, anonymous CIA sources would leak conflicting information to the media - who would run the stories as fact to discredit whatever Bush was saying.
The agency must be cleaned out from the inside first, you can't send the President out there to make arguments based on US intelligence - when forces within the same agency are working the opposite side of the street.
#53. Thanks for cluing me in to ALL that info in your post. Thanks,
