I just got in the door from seeing comedian Ralphie May at the Orlando Improv. He did 3 huge shows tonight. Folks...this guy is without question a new breed of talent and comedy. He was if you don't remember the really really fat kid on the NBC show Last Comic Standing...and has been on a bunch of specials and the Tonight Show.
He does about 2 hrs each show and he has all new material. He just got back from Iraq a few weeks ago performing for the troops with his fiancee Lahna Turner who opened his show...she is a comedian as well and hilarious.
Ralphie WENT OFF on the liberals and the liberal media and is totally ANTI-POLITICALLY CORRECT...HE IS JUST CORRECT...HAHAHAHA. We all have to add this guy to the list of Pro-GOP performers with his wife. He has a new DVD out and it has a bonus 1 hour footage of him at one of Saddam's palaces and he is swimming in the pool...and let's just say it will require some cleaning later..hahaha.
He went off on how much we are doing over there that CNN won't show...building schools,sewer plants..electricity...you name it Ralphie hit a home run. The crowd was afraid to either clap or yell at times but I made sure to correct that issue and the place just kept erupting. He went after Islam and Muslims overseas and went on to say that he was being fired at repeatedly and how much they suck because if you can't hit a guy who weighs 435lbs then you really must suck.
Then he got into how the media has blown crap way out of hand with Abu Ghraib..calling it an atrocity. He does a 10 min skit comparing it to college pranks he had done to him and he did to others and compared it to getting your head chopped off...and the place was dead silent...as he said "think about it for a minute people...look at what the media is really pushing"
Anyway...support this up and coming act and be sure to check out his DVD as portions go to supporting the USO.
Ralphie is ACES in my book.

I love it! Bring back the image of the Jolly Fat Guy! It's been sorely missed.

Ralph was amazing...he told everyone he does not discriminate...he makes fun of everyone..blacks..gays..midgets..whites..mexicans...he did 15 mins on the joke that immigration is in this country...he hit on every single GOP talking point that we so love here on FR every single day.
I got to buy a dvd and cd at the end of the show that he autographed and I talked to him...it was packed and time was short as he had a 12:25 stage time for the next show but he makes a point to take pictures and shake hands and do whatever to who pays to see his show. I got my stuff signed and shook his hand and told him to never change and he hit a home run with his material..it was the best.
I told him as a Bush supporter it was just refreshing to hear another point of comedy besides one that bashes the President. He said "wait til I break out my Kerry stuff later this summer...we belonged going in there...I saw it first hand...the people want us there..and they are thankful..we don't know how lucky we are to have W in charge"
Ralphie earned mucho respect from me right there.
Inner pain is the mother of all comedy. Putting the hurt onto others is the father.
Hope this guy's ticker lasts longer than with some of our other famous fat comedians.

I know..I was saying that to my girlfriend on the ride home...I was saying that his girlfriend mentioned he had lost 170lbs in the last year..I just hope he sticks around long enough into his 30s and 40s...we need more people like this guy. I just thought about John Candy.

I've met Ralphie a few times, my company sponsored a charity event at our Improv in Phoenix every 6 months, it was the Latino Comedy festival, but the comedians weren't always latino. I had to make sure he got his airline tickets (and not tell any airline jokes, since I workde for an airline!). Funny guy and nice as hell! Good to see he is getting more visibility.
I wonder if that is the same Lahna Turner I've seen. I took comedy defensive driving from a woman with that name.

She totaled a Volvo when she flipped it on the freeway. She was writing her first dirty song... go figure.
The way she told it, she was hit by a flying tire. It was a life changing experience.

Wow--I DO remember him from last season's "Last Comic Standing". And he got a standing ovation, as I recall, doing pro-America/anti-terrorist jokes.
I am really pleased to hear he is out there performing and that he went to Iraq. Terrific!
