White House axes Laura Bush interview after heated Irish TV talk with George W

ENNIS, Ireland - The US administration confirmed it had axed an interview that US First Lady Laura Bush had been due to grant to Irish public television RTE, only two days after the broadcaster's exclusive interview with the US president himself.

No explanation was given for the schedule change, but journalists travelling with the Bush entourage in Europe noted that the cancellation had come a day after George W. Bush's less-than-sunny showing in his RTE exclusive.

During that interview, given on Thursday in Washington, Bush displayed annoyance and at one point lost his temper when he was contradicted by Irish journalist Carole Coleman.

"Let me finish please. Let me answer your question and then you'll follow up," a visibly annoyed Bush told her.

During that interview, given on same day that a wave of coordinated attacks across Iraq (news - web sites) cost at least 90 lives, Bush insisted his actions were improving the state of the world.

"I do believe the world is a safer place and becoming a safer place," he told RTE.

Asked about the mounting death toll in Iraq, Bush commented: "Nobody cares more about the deaths than I do".

After a summit with European Union (news - web sites) leaders in Ireland on Saturday, Bush flew to Turkey, where he will attend a NATO (news - web sites) summit in Istanbul.

"Asked about the mounting death toll in Iraq..."

He should have pointed out to that nitwit that this is what we're up against--murderous terrorists who have attacked the U.S. and will, if left unchecked, destroy her, Ireland, and the rest of Western Civilization. In fact, they have declared that this is their intent and demostrated their determination to carry it out.

This interviewer must be very stupid.

Most of the Irish are rude, elitist Europeans as much as other Europeans are. I've work with a large USA narrow interest group for quite a few years but if President Bush is not elected, will filter mail from Europeans forever afterward.

They have no right to participate in our Election campaigns with their filthy money, media or otherwise. They are conceited bigots who blow their horns too much and do so with little knowledge. With their shallow, nearly transparent inferences, they parrot and recycle worn out NAZI propaganda. They ignore facts. They ignore dictionary definitions and say that those are irrelevant (see Gramsci). They are too easily brainwashed by their communist/fascist media.

If they had any sense at all, they wouldn't bow in their stupidities to idiotic caricatures of our President contrived by their radical left puppetmasters.

I thought that interview was given in Ireland. The room didn't look like any room I've seen in the White House.

I listened to the interview and I thought the President showed extraordinary restraint in the face of Carol Coleman's rude interruptions.

The reporter was obviously biased in favor of the demonstrators & kept repeating the same questions because she wasn't getting the answers she wanted.

I'm glad that our First Lady will not be subjected to such rude behavior.

I'm ashamed to say that my family roots are in Ireland.

Leahy calls for an investigation of Cheney and then acts like nothing happened?? Sheesh. What a two-face backstabbing arse. I'm glad Cheney told Leahy to bug off !!

Me too. Leahy deserved it.

Asked about the mounting death toll in Iraq, Bush commented: "Nobody cares more about the deaths than I do".

And how dare this Irish reporter grill Bush on deaths that he is not responsible for when they were silent while Saddam killed an average of 16,000 Iraqis a year for a total of more than 300,000.

This idea Bush has to answer at all to these low-life hypocrites is disgusting.

Yes, and Leaky Leahy was taken off the intelligence committee for releasing classified information to TV (Media) a few years ago. That's where he got the nick name Leaky Leaky, he can not keep nothing to himself. Not even our country secrets.

I think the pretend niceness in the Senate needs to go away. I prefer the days when they clubbed each other down. Those old farts would go away if it wasn't such a good old boys club. Fight for what you believe in or get out.

That was good but I would drop the yourself part,it seems redundant,as in go blank yourself yourself. HAH...I think you may have injected another Clymer word into our freeper vocabulary. It works for me. New word "leahy" means go blank yourself,it eliminates two words.

That reminds me of a conversation I had with a good friend who at the start of the war was quite upset about the civilian casualties. All the hospitals were at capacity, filled with women and children. I quickly and calmly reminded him that the Baathist regime of Saddam was murdering 100,000 people a year. In perspective, that's 300 people a day, 1 every 5 minutes. I said that the Iraqi's lives will only get better from here. He did not have a reply.
