Bubba Ho-Tep
Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by cult author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the "true" story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis (Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death", then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.

I just watched this thing the other night and laughed until I could take no more.
Ossie Davis playing Kennedy was a scream. When Elvis reminds him he is black Jack tells him they dyed him that color.
His room at the nursing home looks like the Lincoln bedroom and there is a framed picture of Lee Harvey Oswald's mug shots. He even has a red phone that looks like the hot line.
There is a scene where this creepy thing is moving down the hall and almost attacked Jack, Elvis gets to him and Jack tells it looked like Lyndon Johnson trying to come and get him. When Elvis tells him Johnson is dead Jack looks at him and says " when did that ever stop Lyndon?"
Bruce Campbell as usual is amazing and his Elvis was just great and really funny. You really wanted to believe Old Elvis was alive and well in that rest home.
If you want a good laugh this is worth renting.

"I felt my P----- flutter, kinda like a pigeon having a heart attack."
Ozzie Davis, as JFK. Hard to visualize him conducting Memorial Day Services on PBS, ever again...

"Nothing worse than having your soul sucked outta your asshole, except maybe, laying here in bed with a boil on your penis." Great flick...one of the best "B" movies out in a while. BTW, Campbell is from right here in river city. Little Rock, Arkansas!

Doing what? They filming a movie here I haven't heard about? Inquiring minds want to know. I live in L.R. too.

Talk about subtle nuances that lend reality to fantastic premises - the arrogant, smart aleck nurse's luck!
Ossie to Bruce: "You're not half as dim as people made you out to be."
Bruce curls lip.
