The ad is great. I don't understand what you don't get about it. Maybe I'm just confused.
There is one demon the Republicans left out of criticism - George (middle name?) Soros. Do you recall the clomor the leftists made over Richard (Mellon) Scaife and his financing of Republican causes? Where is the official Republican voice about the billionnaire financier of Move-On and its Nazi Bush ads? How does Soros escape the link to the Nazi ads?
I don't like the ad either, but that doesn't change the fact that the DEMO(N)cRATS are lying again.
Email to AP should be sent to: feedback@ap.org
and they give her email as letters@indiana.edu
The fact that you have to explain this supports My2Cents' argument that the ad, while good in concept, was not executed properly.
I think the RNC should preserve the idea, but go back and try again. WE understand the ad, but does the average Joe on the street?
I too thought the ad was little disjointed. It was not clear that the Hitler image was from the other side, portraying Bush. It needs a little more Voiceover or something - not just a series of video and images spliced together. The ad needs to educate the common person about the wackiness of the Left, whereas all it currently does is show those who follow politics what they already know.
The fact that these types of articles are out proves this.
Try again RNC. We need to do better.
Here is the text from Kerry's campaign
"Yesterday, the Bush-Cheney campaign, losing any last sense of decency, placed a disgusting ad called "The Faces of John Kerry's Democratic Party" as the main feature on its website. Bizarrely, and without explanation, the ad places Adolf Hitler among those faces.
The Bush-Cheney campaign must pull this ad off of its website. The use of Adolf Hitler by any campaign, politician or party is simply wrong.
We sent you a fundraising plea earlier this morning. But when this came up, we decided it was important to show you just what we're up against: a presidential campaign that is willing to do or say absolutely anything to win. You're our only line of defense against these underhanded tactics. Please contribute today:..... "
This "I know you are but what am I?" thing the Democrats always do just drives me insane. This is a perfect illustration of how they seek to frustrate those who tell the truth.
Well, here's some truth: Today's Democrats are evil.
Interesting theory. In other words, use this strawman as a way in which to get free publicity to get the word out that the dems are so extreme they are comparing Bush to Hitler. If they aren't doing it with this ad, I think this idea you've mentioned is a great one and could be used over and over.
Thanks for the back-up. I agree with you that what's missing is some voice-over. Flashes of images, left on the screen for too short a time for the viewer to put them into context, is a weakness of the ad. There was a similar ad in the early primary season that had TV on a countertop changing channels, each channel with a foaming-mouth Democrat, and some voice-over regarding what the channels were showing. That ad was effective.
Thanks for your post, but I wasn't the one who had a little trouble believing it -- I was commenting on somebody else who had said that.
I thought the ad was a great way to turn the tables on the dems.
No this is just more AP socialist slant. They're trying to make it seem like Bush purposefully put the Hitler reference in when all he did was use the Hitler clip from Kerry/Move On's ad.
I'm sending in $50 right now, as a direct result of this brilliant ad!
I agree. When I watched the ad, I was confused by the Hitler images and shouting - as in 'are they trying to say that Kerry's supporters are wild-eyed in the same way Hitler was?' If you're going to use Hitler images and audio in a campaign ad, you better be very sure there's no confusion about what you're saying.
What percentage of the ad's potential viewers do you think have ever heard of Moveon.org?
I reject the premise. I don't feel I 'have to' explain anything. I merely pointed out that the writer is a moron, because the point I made is obvious...hence the 'sheesh.'
Does somebody have an email address for this moronic writer?
