that's only nine..... for $25 grand you get a table for 10
On the expensive $700 Flipper Costume, I had a Flipper show up for a Freep here in Harrisburg, PA. Of course, I was in shock with the welcome help. It was some young men/women from the Pennsylvania State RNC.
We had a talk about the Flipper Costumes and it seems many RNC State Committes are getting them for use in their area.
So ALL, check in with your State RNC Committee and see if they have purchased one.
RonDog has a link here to the web site where they can be acquired.
Sorry. :( Since many of these FRiends are not yet registered to post here, perhaps they WILL register - soon! - so that they can post THEIR impressions here. Here are SOME of the groups that I know were represented:
Westside Members Council of the NRAAlso on the "honor roll" for this FReep were...
Young Americans for Freedom (YAFers)
California College Republicans (CCRs)
TownHall MeetUp members
Vietnamese Americans for Bush
Bush-Cheney '04
California Republican Party
Republican Party of Orange County
Republican Party of Los Angeles County

I would add that a recording of Flipper's voice over a loudspeaker to interject at Kerry campaign stops would be the icing on the cake.

See also, from the Washington Times/UPI:
Republicans deem Kerry to be a dolphinColumbus, OH, Jun. 17 (UPI) -- Two Ohio Republicans tried to drown out a speech by U.S. presidential hopeful John Kerry, playing the "Flipper" theme song from speakers set up on their lawn.CLICK HERE for the rest of that articleThe Washington Post said the Wednesday incident occurred as Kerry made an outdoor campaign speech pitching the Democratic stance on reduced taxes for the middle class in Columbus, Ohio.
To organizers' dismay, the theme song from the television show continually increased in volume from two stadium-size speakers.
Apparently referring to Kerry's record of taking more than one side of an issue, the lyrics drowned out Kerry's microphone.
"They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning / No one, you see, is smarter than he," the music blasted.
Campaign workers ordered the media bus to back up and block the sound, and Columbus police were dispatched. The music was turned down...
Great FReep RonDog, sorry we weren't in town to help!I understand.
We missed you. :(What's new with...
www.rightalk.com
(with only ONE "T")
The combination of Saddam, Flipper and the posters is an absolute attention grabber.
I went ahead and snagged a used video, "Flipper's New Adventure" (1964) for about $6 and will record the theme song and snippets of Flipper's voices for the next SoCal Kerry FReep. I'll also try to have digital versions that I can send in e-mail to FReeepers across the country.
Are we going to try to get the local RNC to cough up $700 for the Flipper duds?It appears that SOMEONE already has invested in a dolphin suit.
The same young man has now worn that same "Flipper" costume at THREE (3) Kerry FReeps - in East Los Angeles (5/5/04), Anaheim (6/24/04) - and at OUR rally. And, I know the person who knows how to contact him. :o)
Do you think Kerry will come to SoCal that often during the campaign season?Yes.
I think that John Kerry will return to one of his biggest "cash cows" - OFTEN.As I posted on ANOTHER thread:
There was an interesting chart in the local paper showing Kerry's recent fundraising.See also THIS version of fundraising in the "red states" vs. in the "blue states" from www.fundrace.org:Over half his money comes from 4 states: CA, NY, IL and Mass.
With CA and NY representing 40% of his funds.
totalling more than $200 to a single campaign between January 1, 2003 and April 30, 2004. This site is updated according to the reporting schedule set by the FEC. (Search results are as current as possible, maps may lag by a month or two) |

The heck with post #105. Look at #106. Ahhhhhhhhhh. Beautiful
OMG I am reading this with tears rolling down my cheeks. I am laughing so hard at the pictures of Flipper and Saddam. WONDERFUL!!
Well, I took and posted the pictures; but there wouldn't have been anything to take pictures of if Ron hadn't "worked his magic" (as doodlelady so eloquently put it). Also, all of the people there did a fantastic job at getting our message heard.
I'm just glad I got to contribute to the cause.
Sweet FReep!
...it looks like there were a couple of inflatable dolphins to add to the mix. There were indeed "inflatable dolphins" at this FReep, seen here cavorting over doodlelady's "Governator" poster:That gave me an idea, perhaps future Kerry Freeps might want to use helium balloons that are fashioned after 'flipper' the dolphin:
The balloons could appear to leap into the air if using two puppet strings. One string at the nose and one at the rear fin, that way one could anchor the tail to let the balloon rise to certain height and pull down on the nose at the top of the arc to simulate a head first rotation.Or, maybe such balloon operation would get too cumbersome?
They certainly get ATTENTION--particularly from far away......and they VERY effectively communicate the "flip flop" message introduced by the "guy in the dolphin suit."
Note that even the radically left-wing L.A. Times could not refrain from mentioning them. :o)And, these helium-filled "blue dolphin" balloons (they also come in pink and green) are reasonably priced...
...at about $6 to $8/each, inflated, from your local "Party City"-type store. The only problem is, they can be awkward to manage on a windy day.
Perhaps a SECOND string (on the tail) - in addition to the FIRST string (on the lower fin) would help to control them.See also, from www.teddy-bears-online.co.uk:
Plus, you can re-fill them for about $2 for the NEXT time.
And, they make MARVELOUS "after-FReep souvenirs..."...to share with your friends and family. :o)
