Vice President Dick Cheney says he has no regrets about cursing Sen. Patrick "Leaky" Leahy.
"I felt better after I said it," Cheney told Fox News Channel today. "A lot of my colleagues felt what I said badly needed to be said."
The vice president sidestepped Neil Cavuto's questions about whether he had used the word all the media say he did (a word the FCC deems a naughty and costly expletive if uttered on radio or TV). Cheney said that was not the sort of language he usually used.
Cavuto asked Cheney if he had cursed at Leahy. "Probably," the veep replied.
'We Don't Play Games'
Meanwhile, the Washington Post today defended its decision to spell out the vulgar term rather than use such euphemisms as "the F word."
Executive Editor Leonard Downie stated, "When the vice president of the United States says it to a senator in the way in which he did on the Senate floor, readers need to judge for themselves what the word is because we don't play games at The Washington Post and use dashes."
But what about all those "expletive deleteds" in the Watergate stories?
And how come the Post didn't report Hillary Clinton's attack on former campaign aide Paul Fray, whom she called a "f--king Jew bastard"?

Media Bias
Hey sometimes a good cussing out is excellent stress relief. Besides Cheney needs it with his ole ticker. He can't afford to hold in any *ahem* feelings.
I just heard Cheney being interviewed by Cavuto on Fox - and Neil asked him if he regretted the remark - Cheney instantly replied, "No!"
I laughed my ass off - it was hilarious. He then added - "many of my colleagues thought it was long overdue."
I have more respect for him than ever.
Flip!
Ditto M. Peach! Ditto! V's wife.
I never faulted Kerry for cussing. Many on this board did. I have the worlds biggest toilet mouth so I'm not one to throw the first turd.
Reminds me of the rich Socialite who ran into an old college sority sister. The rich socialite told her friend that her Husband gave her a Rolex watch for Christmas to which her friend replied " Well, isn't that nice." Continuing, the rich socialite said her husband also gave her a new Lexus for Christmas, to which her friend replied "Well, isn't that nice." When the rich socialite asked her friend what she got for Christmas the friend replied "A two week etiquette course." When asked why, the friend relpied "So I could learn to say "Well, isn't that nice', instead of "Who gives a fu*k."
Hugh Hewitt talking about this. Leaky seems to think he can call someone a liar and a crook, and then walk up to him and shake his hand.
My respect for Dick f'n Cheney just went up about 5 f'n notches.
I had to learn to be nice to nasty people working in retail. And I've said 'well isn't that special?' plenty of times *LOL*
I have mixed feelings on this. I understand and the senator had it coming but this is adult language and I don't want the kids going around talking like this. Oops Forgot. Most already do :')
I love Cheney... Cheney/Rice 2008
Shoulda followed thru with a right cross.
I don't think anyone faulted Kerry for cussing. We fault--or at least I fault--Kerry for going to a famous hippie magazine and deliberately cussing to prove he's just as much of an angry flake as Howard Dean. That was the context in which he did it.
Cussing because he hit your thumb with a hammer or because an SOB like Leahy insults you is different from standing up in front of a bunch of hippie reporters and cussing to prove you're a real man. It's no different from clinton holding up his Bible for the reporters to snap, and no more genuine.
This harsh incident will be just one more reason Theresa Heinz Kerry changed her party affiliation. Obviously, that obnoxious gigolo of a husband wasn't the reason.
ROFL !!!!! I don't condone swearing but in this case I wish I could shake Cheney's hand.
Another freeper phrase? I'll have to remember this one lol
