I don't think anyone faulted Kerry for cussing. We fault--or at least I fault--Kerry for going to a famous hippie magazine and deliberately cussing to prove he's just as much of an angry flake as Howard Dean. That was the context in which he did it.
Cussing because he hit your thumb with a hammer or because an SOB like Leahy insults you is different from standing up in front of a bunch of hippie reporters and cussing to prove you're a real man. It's no different from clinton holding up his Bible for the reporters to snap, and no more genuine.
I don't understand in all this, why Cheney got so angry. Leahy had said something like "you called me a bad Catholic." Was Leahy trying to imply that Cheney was a worse Catholic? And I'm sure that being potty mouth was a REAL godly move, right.
Exactly. The treatment of Kerry on this site overall has been one of mocking for his "hip" pose, not outraged condemnation for daring to say the word.
As to the Cheney/Leahey incident, I said yesterday that they don't come much more vile and nasty than Leahy. I say "Bravo! Mr. Vice President".
Agreed. There is a time and place to throw out the occasional cuss-word. Lobbing them forth because it sounds cool or makes one look hip for the "MTV Generation" is beyond infantile.
I believe the feelings had been building up for several months with Cheney and he finally burst and said what we all wanted to say to Leahy, because I believe Cheney had enough of the ad hominem attacks that have been going on from the Left for nearly 2 years.
