CHICAGO - This afternoon, Leader Media President Dan Proft announced that IllinoisLeader.com plans to file suit to obtain Massachusetts' Senator John Kerry's, the presumptive Democrat nominee for President, sealed divorce records from his first marriage to Julia Thorne which was later annulled.
"The Chicago Tribune and a Los Angeles Family Court judge have established a new standard for the release of marital and custodial documents," said Proft referring to the recent Jack Ryan decision. "Okay, then everyone in the public arena needs to be held to that standard. John Kerry is the start but there will be others we will seek to hold to this new standard."
Proft was a paid staffer for the Jack Ryan for US Senate campaign in Illinois. Ryan announced today that he would be withdrawing from the race.
Developing story . . .
Be interesting to learn if the annulment really was granted, for starters.
Nice. Between Dick F'ng Cheney and this and it appears that the pubbies are starting to grow a set.
Gosh Darn when liberal tactics are used against liberal candidates...
Works for me.
This sort of politics is unseemly. You can put just about anything in divorce papers. Divorces are dirty business, let's face it.
However, with that said. If it's good for the liberal press to go after Ryan, we should be able to go after Kerry. The only problem is that the Democrats wouldn't care if Kerry asked his first wife to be part of a gangbang.
I suspect it never was. I think I read somewhere that his official bio only ever says "he requested an annullment".
there's further precedent for this with the experience of Newt Gingrich, of course.
The Demos get a taste of their own medicine. Of course the trial goes might go before a liberal judge who will turn it down. By the time it goes through appeals it might be too late.
In other news, the first Ms. Kerry embarks on a trip to Kenya. Her parents say, "John was a good husband."
I don't think it was ever granted either but that's a church matter and these are his civil divorce records so it's not going to show up here anyway.
If this works, then Jack Ryan didn't go under in vain.
But isn't the annulment a question of canon (Church) law, rather than civil law? I thought Kerry and his first wife got a civil divorce and he requested Church annulment so he could remarry.
When you've got a pressing national need-to-know I'm sure you can get the docket rocketed at some appellate level.
Rat judges engage in this crap. Unfortunately, pubbie judges, almost uniformly, will not.
Reciprocity.
I think they would expect it.
Look up Ryan, IL Senate Candidate.
Good. They will find out that Kerry is not even married to Heinz in the Church, is my bet. He can't remember which Catholic church he got married in. If that is true, according to the Church and most Catholics he would still be married to his first wife.
Not to mention that fact that annullments are a scandal anyway. Buying a clean soul.
Lots of people never go beyond the name--"Kerry, must be a Catholic." I'd love for this to break wide open. The communion was good but this is better.
