BEIRUT, Lebanon - A Lebanese translator who disappeared in the first week of the Iraq war was killed in the same firefight that claimed the life of a veteran British TV correspondent, the translator's employer, ITN
DNA tests carried out by British military investigators indicate that remains found at the site of the gunbattle are those of Hussein Osman, ITN said in a statement.
Osman's father, Hosni Osman, told The Associated Press the British Embassy in Beirut told him his son's body had been found and that it would be flown to Lebanon for burial within the next two weeks.
At least 30 journalists and other employees of media agencies have been killed in Iraq since the beginning of the war.
Osman, correspondent Terry Lloyd and cameramen Fred Nerac and Daniel Demoustier were working for ITN covering the opening stages of the U.S.-British invasion of Iraq when they got caught in crossfire on March 22, 2003, near the southern city of Basra.
Lloyd was killed, Demoustier survived, and Osman and Nerac were missing.
"ITN has learned that tests on remains retrieved from the scene match Hussein Osman's family's DNA," the ITN statement said. It did not say when the remains were found.
Britain's Royal Military Police, which has been investigating the disappearances for the past year, has been unable to find any trace of Nerac, the statement added.
Lloyd died as a result of bullets from both Iraqi and American forces, ITN said.
"Hussein died in the noblest of causes, helping the ITN team get to the heart of the story as the war unfolded," said ITN chief executive Mark Wood. "His family should be tremendously proud of his achievements."
Osman, from the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek, is survived by his widow Samira and two children, Abdullah and Fatima.
From his children's names, he is probably Muslim. They still killed him though since he aided "The Great Satan."
more "reporters" taking pictures from "the other side" ??
More of them need to be found this way - requiring DNA to ID them!
The reason they get killed is that they are providing the pictures of the terrorists (with the full permission and cooperation of the terrorists, of course) and they get squashed along with all the other bugs when the Uncle Sam brings the hammer down.

Damn, the low body count is depressing, I was hoping there was less of the scum on the earth.
