This is not a time for pessimism and rage
President Bush: It's a time for optimism, steady leadership and progress

That's a pretty good video. It's nice to see the Bush campaign pointing out how absurd the opposition is. Hopefully, they will continue and refine this message.
I think this ad helps Kerry more than it helps Bush. I know the point of the ad is steady leadership in the face of pessimism by the RATS but will it be seen that way?
I would run this ad 24/7 for a month.
I hope you're right.
You need to remember who the audience for this is...
the voter who is usually not paying attention to politics, but wants a president who is "presidential"...
This is a very effective summary showing how extreme these people are...When Clinton portrayed Republicans as "right-wing extremists" that was very effective with this group. He used OKC and that tag to defeat Dole in 96.
The Dems have gone nuts...and letting the world see them doing it on TV is very effective.
You have to also remember that as close as the polls look on the election, the President's LIKEABILITY numbers have stayed in the 60s....Rove et. al. are going to drum in this "extremist" label to get late-deciders to fall our way on the "likeability" factor...
The link is to and anti-Bush website.
You have it backwards. Dot org is the lefty site. Check it out.
You are correct! My goof.
When I first read about this ad, I was a little skeptical and agreed that it would hurt or at least look dumb. I think it could have ended better however. With more stuff about Bush's steady leadership and optimism by having him saying something. But I think it will be effective. A WWII vetern who defeated the Nazis and saw the concentration camps or a child of a Holocaust survivor most likely would not be ok with the Hitler comparison. Neither would your average American. I think the people they showed were chilling. These people showed uncontrolled anger not fitting of a governing party and more like Dean's "I Have a Scream" or even the style of how Hitler and other demogogues have worked up their crowds. The average American doesn't like politics, doesn't like personal attacks/negativity and doesn't like controversy. I think the extremism shown by the democrats will scare people off Kerry.
I always mess up the white house web site. Finally, I bookmarked it!
The .com site? ;^)
That's the one, I type in .com out of habit. No more though. That place is disgusting.
Hmm, it could have been edited better. To the casual viewer, it might look like the Bush campaign is comparing Democrats to Hitler. At least the soothing piano music makes it clear that Bush is an honest, decent man.
I do not like this ad. Bush needs, at least, to speak his graphic words. Too much time dedicated to others and misses the point, even more so because of the silence, that it is a Bush/Cheney Ad. The Bush graphics are ineffective in contrast to the aggressive statements of the others in my opinion.
Well it does show just how insane the democrats appear and how much gore sounds like hitler.
What the hell are you talking about?
They really should have a calm authoritative voice at the end reading the Bush '04 message.
