LOS ANGELES (AP) Ron Reagan, the younger son of the late President Reagan, criticized the Bush administration's foreign policy, saying he believed the president misled Americans to gain support for the Iraq war."We lied our way into the war," he said on CNN's "Larry King Live" on Wednesday, referring to allegations that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and direct connections to al-Qaida. "It's a terrible mistake, a terrible foreign policy error."
Reagan, 44, a vocal opponent of his father's conservative politics, said he would vote for anyone who could beat the current president.
Reagan also said he was angered over the administration's opposition to human embryonic stem cell research.
"It's shameful," he said. "We're not talking about fetuses, human beings being killed. We're talking about collections of cells in a petri dish that are never ever going to be a human being."
Reagan said he expected his mother to continue to speak out in favor of stem cell research. Nancy Reagan has long argued that such work could lead to cures for a number of diseases like the Alzheimer's that afflicted her husband.
He said Nancy Reagan was doing "pretty well."
"I've got to hand it to her. She's 83 years old. She doesn't get around as well as she used to, a little glaucoma," he said. But, "She's a professional."
This clown only gets airtime because of his last name, and because he is willing to betray his father's beliefs. A slimeball of Carteresque proportions...
this acorn fell pretty far from the "tree."
I've been calling him the unReagan.
"These are not attacks against Bush, these are attacks against his Father"
You hit the nail on the head with that one. Sounds like some sort of repressed hostility toward his father- and maybe his mother too. It's his way of getting back at his father for real or imagined emotional injuries. He probably never felt connected to his father b/c they are so different. After the attention he's getting wanes, he will probably feel even worse about himself. (Arm chair psychologist now taking off "shrink" hat)
PROPAGANDA ALERT!!!
I like "RRINO" (Ronald Reagan in Name Only).
Good one, too ;^D
Watched about 10 minutes, but when he said Abu Ghraib was "So Terrible" and then he gave this little shiver, I had to turn it off. Why didn't Larry challenge him at all? Ask Ron if the beheadings offended him, or people getting their hands cut off, or thrown into vats of acid and wood chippers. I guess putting panties on someones head is much worse.
RRINO is perfect!!!
Dumb? When you cannot possibly interpret facts and tout ridiculous talking points not based on truth - it appears pretty dang dumb to me. Either dumb or subversive.
When you hate a good man based on misconceptions, lies, distortions and you yourself are unable to "read" what that man is, it is purely dumb. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
Anyone that sees what George Bush has done with his life, his faith, his actions as governor and president and still believes that he has no experience for the job is dumb, dumb, dumb or purely jealous.
"Ron said his father was a deeply religious man who believed he was here to serve God's purpose. Then he said his father didn't wear his religion on his shirt sleeve and did not believe there was a God given mandate.
The obvious contrast was with Bush."
You had the same thoughts as I did. I thought little Ron almost ruined the sunset funeral service for his dad with his remarks aimed toward Pres. Bush. Even daughter Patti kept her eulogy to a personal note about her dad. And of course Michael gave the most touching of all.
"Ron is not comfortable with religion. During the prayers at every service his head was never bowed and his eyes were never closed."
I noticed that too. Looks like he really needs a lot of prayers himself. I don't know Patti's beliefs, but at least she did bow her head during the prayers. And near the end of that service, she had a few tears in her eyes (and of course Michael had many). I was really touched by her throughout the week -- seems she was really upset about losing her dad and might have many regrets over their relationship.
At least she seemed really grieved, whereas it didn't appear that way with Ron. I think the guy does need a huge dose of prayers -- he seems in bad shape spiritually and emotionally.
Ron should honor his father's memory by shutting up and getting some meaningful work!
He's finally getting the approval of the people he's wanted it from for all these years...the same people who made so much fun of him for all these years.
This could all end if the President and his administration, his campaign team would POINT OUT THE FACT THAT ALL THE DEMONRATS, WORLD INTELLIGENCE, ETC. SAID IRAQ AND SADDAM HUSSEIN HAD AND CONTINUED TO WORK ON WMD. Kerry has made statements repeatedly in saying what a threat WITH WMD Iraq was-WHERE IS THE BUSH CAMPAIGN IN MAKING A COMMERCIAL WITH THIS???? WHERE ARE THEY IN POINTING IT OUT REPEATEDLY??? STILL WAITING. Bush did not lie, but here go these people in claiming Bush made it all up which is complete b.s. because EVERYONE is on record in belief of Iraq having WMD. The difference is that BUSH ACTED and put an end to the threat. I WANT TO SEE THE REPUBLICANS, PRESIDENT, CAMPAIGN TAKE THESE PEOPLE ON IN THEIR LIES THAT BUSH LIED ABOUT IRAQ AND WMD. This continues to enrage me and here we go again. Ron P. Reagan is a loser in life. He is a disgrace to his father and ironic that he is attempting to speak for his father. He will not see his father again. And, once again, the liberals and Demonrats show what hateful, spiteful people they are.
Who is Ron Reagan?
Also, I've been thinking we should call Ron by his middle name - Prescott. Since GWB's grandfather, uncle and nephew all have that name, you know it has to irk Ron that he has that name in common with the Bush family.
Okay. You made your point--several times. I made mine. We disagree.
