Iran seeks swap of Brits for suicide attackers

Report says 40 Revolutionary Guard 'volunteers' held by UK

Iran apprehended British military personnel and Navy vessels earlier this week in order to secure release of 40 "suicide operations volunteers" held by the UK, according to an Iranian Revolutionary Guard source.

The source told the London Arabic-language daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the British Army command in Iraq received the demand from the Revolutionary Guard, reported the Middle East Media Research Institute.

According to the source, the content of the message was very simple: "Release our comrades, whom you are holding, and we will release your soldiers."

"In a statement with the video, al-Zarqawi's group, Tawhid and Jihad, threatened to behead the men in 72 hours unless Turkish companies withdraw from Iraq, an Al-Jazeera anchor said.

The station received the tape Saturday, an employee at the station told The Associated Press. The message did not say when or where the three were abducted. It appeared the deadline was Tuesday, but the message did not specify what time it runs out.

The three men disappeared two days ago, said a Turkish consular official in Baghdad who asked to be identified only by his surname, Gungor. He said he had no further information."

Just a heads up...

I own a store in a regional mall in the St. Louis, MO area and mall security has been increased drastically over the past week and our mall got a bomb threat last Thursday. Security is definitely skittish and very visible.

For what it's worth, if a swarmy looking individual opens fire near my store, he's gonna be wearing a .357 magnum cap upside his head.

I haven't seen the text of his statement in print yet. As usual, the latest tape was just received by Al Jazeera and shows the three turkish men identifying themselves and Zarqawi making a statement threatening to behead them.
