Sen. John Kerry has become such a notorious shirker that his campaign has issued an alert to the media that for once he'll show his face at work.
Embarrassed by the few media that will report his 87 percent absenteeism rate, the Massachusetts Democrat has condescended to return to Capitol Hill today to "make a critical vote on behalf of America's 26 million veterans," his handlers proclaimed.
Such a magnanimous flip-flop after he voted against funding the troops he voted to send to Iraq.
Still, it's a grand display of noblesse oblige for which we should all bow down and express gratitude. Or is he just trying to avoid a repeat of that humiliating episode last month when Democrats failed to extend jobless benefits because he was AWOL?
So he deigns to show up for one measly vote? Big deal.
How did the 'Rats, "The Party of the People", end up with this stuffed shirt as their nominee?
I just can't see this man winning the election once the bright lights of the campaign season start shining in the fall. He would have a much better chance in France.
Would love to visit the Capital, and go to the 'john' with trusty pen to scribble: "J-F-KERRY Was Here, 6/22/04".
He's doing this to get attention. What with Slick Willy stealing the spotlight and all. It's gonna be negative press, but hey, press is press.
He didn't do his job before he will do his job.
Show his face? Give me a break from that, Puhleez!
After doing such hard work, the dear boy probably needs a week of vacation at his mansion in Sun Valley.
Of 132 votes in the Senate this year, Kerry has voted just 14 times, according to an Associated Press tally. Massachusetts Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey last week called on Kerry to resign from the Senate because he's missed so many votes, but Kerry said he's serving his constituents well by running for president.

I am probably one of the least "Bush-bot" people on this forum. But I have no choice in 2004 other than not only to vote for George W Bush, but also to vote a straight Republican ticket. Anything else plays right into the hand of the TRIPLE PLAGUE--gays, "human rightsers", and feminazis!!!!
Too little too late, Johnny Boy. You were a no show not once but TWICE for the unemployment extension vote. Remember, the last time, it would have passed with your one measly "yay", but you had better things to do. You are SUCH a champion of the working people of this country. HA!
If you have decided to start making an appearance or two at your job, there must be a PRO-WELFARE or GUN CONTROL vote coming up. Or maybe a vote to muck over our military in some way. You ALWAYS manage to make it to your senate seat for those type votes.
Yes, but with the obligatory media coverage, it will soon sound as if he is the only reason the Senate functions at all...
A press release to announce that he is going to do his job? Isn't that might white of him?
I really wish these Darksiders?Dems would make up their minds on SOMETHING!
My guess is that the reason he is 'barking' about returning to DC to vote, is that his campaign stop in "???NEW MEXICO? was cancelled due to lack of interest.
"He'll do his job."
Did Kerry actually say that, or did he say something similar, like: "I'll do my business." ????
Almost identical phrases, but very different paper work and the disposition thereof.
