Punk and conservatism are not two words that people will automatically put together, and maybe twenty years ago, you wouldn't see it at all. But these days, some involved in the whole punk scene are choosing their country over created and anti-American sentiment. It's truly amazing, the lines that are being drawn all over the country, in all different ways. I am proud to say that I live in a country where this is even possible.

Of course it is.

I found this good quote on a website that I found from one of the Conservative Punk linked sites:

"...it is hard to read the philosophy of communism because it’s so wrong-headed – once you’ve got individualism, its opposite doesn’t make any sense."

When it comes to Punk Conservatism, as with any label, it has to be defined. There are Anarchists (all varieties), Communists, Marxist, Libertarians etc. One thing that connects the thread of Punk and (paleo)conservatism is anti-authoritarainism and individualism. This makes them of course less "punk". However, towing the current Bush administration and Pubie Party line, makes us less "conservative.

You're all potential anarchy burgers
If you wanna be free
Order yourself an anarchy burger
Hold the government please

Anarchy burger
Hold the government
Anarchy burger
Hold the government

America stands for freedom
But if you think you're free
Try walkin into a deli
And urinating on the cheese

Anarchy burger
Hold the government
Anarchy burger
Hold the government
Hold the government please
Hold the government

One's politics is not dictated by one's taste in music.....not anymore.

It's pleasing to see that not all subcultures are buying into leftism, but I'm going to tell these jokes anyway:

Q. How many punks does it take to change a light bulb?

A. None. Punks only talk about change.

Q. How many hippies does it take to change a light bulb?

A. Also none. They just wait for the light bulb to burn out and then follow it around for 20 years.

Possible? maybe but not probable...Punk rock is some of the most anarchical stuff out there. It isn't any good regardless of political view point...

Ahh, did ya' catch the Clash sympathy posts on NRO when Joe Strummer died? - refreshing to see there are lots of (relatively older) conservative closet punk fans.
I'm 'bout as conservative as they come, but I still listen to the Patti Smith Group and their ilk - (drives my wife nuts, though.....)

I count a few punk rockers, metal heads and even some Gothic types among my acquaintances. Some of them actually registered and intend to vote - and not one claims to want Hanoi John.

I wish you guys & gals had been around in 1980 - it was mighty lonesome being involved in the punk scene as a conservative back then! Most subcultures talk a good game about nonconformity, but Lord help you if you don't conform to their nonconformity.
