Did what stop?
I doubt it?
It is common knowledge in the Gulf region amongst the Coalition forces that the Iranians are on high alert. The Iranians have swamped the area with air defences and keep combat air patrols up over the region. The raid maybe potentially costly for the Israeli's if they chose to enter Iranian airspace to conduct the missions. Stand-off capability would be one method to get round this. The Iranians have already threatened to use their Shahab ballistic missiles against Israel if the strike goes ahead.
Isreal will take care of this.
They are tougher than we.
Thanks guys for all the input everyone have a happy Fathers Day. I'm signing off.
Would Iran be able to deal with the Riots/ Civil War after attacking Israel?.
The day before it is due to go online, just like Saddam's reactor.
Hopefully while the French, German, and Chinese contractors that build it are still inside starting it up.
Can you point to any specifics on Israels strategic capability? I'd like to research it further. The report I heard indicated that this was new and that Israel now has the capability, with the extended range offered by airborne refueling, to hit Iranian targets. Of course, it might just be "media lazy" again.
Iranians know that they are potential targets for such an attack.
In the news this morning it was reported that Iran has siezed 3 British war ships. Last week it was reported that Iran has massed about 4000 troops on the Iraq border. It sounds to me like Iran is picking a fight.
The raid maybe potentially costly for the Israeli's if they chose to enter Iranian airspace to conduct the missions.
Compared to nuclear tipped missles raining down on Tel Aviv, the cost, from an Israeli standpoint, would be minimal. I would imagine that they would have the full support of US forces, at least in regard to electronic warfare such as jamming their defense radar systems.
The Iranians have already threatened to use their Shahab ballistic missiles against Israel if the strike goes ahead.
For the Iranians to do this would invite attack by one of our carrier battlegroups in the region and they have to know this. The Iranians have to know that the US will not stand by and allow Israel to be attacked.
Something tells me this is about to get a whole lot worse.
The following images show the Israeli Boeing 707 tankers equipped with boom and drogue methods of refuelling. The F-16 is on the boom while the two A-4s are on the drogue.
The following shows an F-15 on the boom
Ok, thanks. I'll attibute the report I heard to "media lazy" once again.
