Al Qaeda adopts new tactics: assassinations will replace bombings

Riyad (AsiaNews) – Recent terrorist attacks against foreign people make experts reconsider their analysis about Al Qaeda’s modus operandi in Saudi Arabia. In the video that shows Paul Johnson, the American citizen held captive by the terrorists, Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin introduces himself as the leader of the terrorist organisation in Saudi Arabia. Al Muqrin succeeds to the Yemenite terrorist Khaled Ali al Haj, who died in March killed by the Saudi police.

According to Peter Zehian, an analyst from Stratford, Zeihan is the author of the new strategy Al Qaeda has adopted in Saudi Arabia. This change follows many suicide attacks, including the al-Muhaya massacre. The attack took place on November 8th, 2003. The blast killed 17 people and injured 122. Many casualties were Saudi civilians. This attack caused indignation not only in the Western world, but also in the Arab countries. Probably, this is why the terrorist organisation has decided to modify its tactics.

In order to gain the support, or at least the indifference, of Saudi people, Al Qaeda has focused its attention exclusively on foreign people. Unfortunately, there are 6 million foreigners in the country and they are neither integrated into Saudi society, nor protected at all by the authorities. This new strategy was adopted in the recent attack in Al Khobar, which took place on May 31st. Terrorists killed 22 people and 19 of them were foreigners.

Peter Zehian also affirms that Al Qaeda is trying to gain control of oil wells in order to strangle Western economy. In order to achieve this goal, terrorists must de-legitimize the Saud family and gain the support of the population. According to Zeihan, terrorism already affects the cost of oil by $ 8 per barrel.

No matter what, Al Qaeda's first recourse is always to choose the path of cowardice: picking on the weak, the innocent and the unsuspecting. And they think they're going to heaven?

nor protected at all by the authorities

And I heard recently that the security (private) that is in S.A. supposedly to protect foreign contractors aren't even allowed to carry guns! So when there is an attack on the housing compounds, and people die, who can blame the private security who quits because how can you protect against these monsters with your bare hands?

We won't nuke, but we'll go in to seize control of the oil fields. We can't allow nearly 10mmbbl/day to just disappear. They will drive the westerners out and oil production will drop contrary to what Ijaz says. I considered going to work for Aramco about 8 years ago and am now glad I didn't. If I had family over there I'd be getting out pronto.

Not much point nuking the oil fields given that the radiation would prevent anyone safely getting anything out of them for at least 10 or 20 years, and the entire infrastructure would obviously be wiped out during the strike... now THAT would damage our economy!

The Middle East can't handle it's own oil production, which is why so many westerners are there. And the house of Saud can't handle it's own country. Doesn't look good.

I doubt I'm being completely rational right now, but frankly, I think we should honor their wish and bring all our citizens home from Saudi Arabia--just before we nuke the place. I am at the point where I doubt there are any "good guys" in that country, just those who are terrorists or who enable terrorists.

Meaning they can't pull off large operations.

Meaning if they come to the south, they will get blown up on sight, where citizens carry guns and don't play games with people who will do us harm.

They will peel more and more votes off the moderates and push them into voting for Bush. That is if Bush makes a appropriate response against the perps we catch. Like cutting off their pecans.

They're delusional anyway. This wouldn't be a huge step for them.

I really wish that the powers that be would investigate Sheik Abdullah ibn Jibreen and his family. He is/was a religious leader that issued fatwas against the West and one of his sons in law is one of those wanted for terrorist attacks in Saudi Arabia. Jibreen might have been one of the Imams that was pushed out of his job at his mosque due to his jihadist rants. I believe that he has at least one other male relative that is involved in terrorist attacks against the West.

"Abdel Aziz al-Muqrin introduces himself as the leader of the terrorist organisation in Saudi Arabia. Al Muqrin succeeds to the Yemenite terrorist Khaled Ali al Haj, who died in March killed by the Saudi police."

How polite of the scumbag to introduce himself.

Again, the best way to deal with these lunatics is through their extended families. They may be willing to have themselves killed, but retaliation against their entire clan or tribe is something they are neither prepared for nor willing to accept. This is alwyas the case in triabl societies such as these.

We should do it. First identify, then trace families, then retaliate by killing them all.

And, like women, they keep their faces covered.

My gut feeling as well. Hope we are right.
