Reagan's Son Chides Administration For Invoking Reagan On Iraq Fri Jun 18 2004 10:23:25 ET
Ronald Prescott Reagan has choice words for President Bush -- not words of approval.
He told Chris Matthews that administration officials have no business invoking the Reagan name to justify war in Iraq."
Reagan: "My father never felt the need to wrap himself in anybody else's mantle or pretend to be anybody else. I don't know what's wrong with these people -- they have to keep invoking him. It is their administration, their war. If they can't stand on their own two feet, they're no Ronald Reagans, for sure."

Possibly setting himself up for a run for public office in the near future? (Green Party, of course).

There's only one Ronal Reagan, and junior ain't him.

Sorry Ronny, but I loved your dad more than you did!!
I saw his greatness when you pulled away.
Your father belongs to the nation, the party he loved and to the ages.
Stop complaining and go dance!

Why doesn't Ron Jr just come out of the closet and lift the burden he's been carrying since at least the days of his ballet career?

Technically with the different middle names, he is not Reagan, Jr. We should be grateful that he kept his mouth shut last week until Friday evening. It seems that only Michael Reagan of the family members shared the "Gipper's" political philosophy!
To: Undertow
Ronald Reagan is an atheist and a greenie. He is not the son of Ronald Reagan in spirit.
To: Undertow
Leave the "greiving" son alone, it's sad really. His father was a Great, Great Man!

Well RR was a Democrat for many years too, so there is hope.

OK...after President Reagan died I was willing to give this boob a pass but now (as before his dad passed) he is getting on my nerves.
Just as he claims that Bush "used" his dad's name to attach to the Iraqi war, he is doing so to get his little pink agenda out! If his father had not been the great and respected President he was (or even President at all) he would not have a voice, no one would even be listening to him! He has been using his dad's name since the day he was born!!

What a nasty little twerp. John Kerry opposed everything Ronald Reagan stood for. Yet he's out there attacking Bush to help Kerry.

Reagan: "My father never felt the need to wrap himself in anybody else's mantle or pretend to be anybody else.Ummm, I seem to remember candidate-Reagan referring to Barry Goldwater a bit. I wouldn't say that that qualifies a mantle-wrapping, but it's not exactly like Reagan didn't lift a few ideas from a Republican that preceeded him.

My father never felt the need to wrap himself in anybody else's mantle ...............Oh, stuff a gerbil in it.
RR certainly wrapped himself in FDR and the New Deal at times to court crossover democrats.

Howard Fineman is ready for Ron to run for office and says he has "many of the qualities of his father"...THAT's why I rarely watch Imus ...this kind of drivel coming from Newsweak and NBCites makes me sick. Imus fawns over them and over Biden, too(Gag).
