Jsut saw a promo..to paraphrase..."his remarks at his Father's funeral have set off a controversy...." Is there ANYONE the media will not exploit to further their cause and bash Bush?
There was an excellent post last weekend...and I am a little drunk to go looking for it....about the comparisons between Ron and Dubya. Both are eldest sons of Republican Presients, both went to Yale, one dropped out, one graduated and added a Harvard MBA to boot, one became President, the other is a featured commentator on Animal Planet. It doesn't take a Phd. in psychology to figure out why Ron, Jr is bashing Bush.
You'll have to excuse me for hitting the bottle. I am a lawyer and was picked for jury duty and then empanelled for a five day trial. Closing statements were this afternoon. Deliberations start tomorrow. I plan on exploring new careers this Saturday.
He was a pundit on MSNBC during the dem primary this past winter/early spring and made some anti-Bush comments then.
Scarborough just showed a brief clip of Chris Matthews promoting the interview saying that Ron Reagan and his family was very gratified by the huge outpouring last week.
Scarborough first said Reagan had gained attention for his "thinly veiled swipe" at GWB in his eulogy last week, then Joe played that part. Now Scarborough playing what he flatly says is Ron Reagan's criticism of George W. Bush in his eulogy. There it is.
I'm not jealous at all; I'm a rich Republican.
And Gee .. it's Chrissy Matthews that will be interviewing him on Dateline
Drinking or not, you are spot on
in your analysis of Ron and George,
except that Ron is the youngest son
of Nancy and RWR, whereas George is
the ledest son of Barbara and GHWB.
Both sons bear the first name of their
respective fathers, but not the middle
name(s), making neither son juniors.
Hildy--weren't you the one that figured there were "issues" for Ron Reagan regarding George W. Bush?
Larry Sabato, Scarborough Country, just criticized Ron pretty harshly, and ended analyzing him exactly as you did.
Joe just played a clip--the only one he played.
It was Ron saying he didn't "know what was wrong with these people" that they have to invoke his father to justify the war (when did they do that?! but I digress). It's "their administration", said Ron, and if they can't justify it themselves except to say Ronald Reagan would agree, then they're no Ronald Reagan.
Well, there's a taste of the tone this will take.
Technically, Ron is the youngest child, but they are saying biologically, and then, my friend, he is the eldest son. Yes, we all know Michael is, but we are going for son of Nancy, and Ronald... we are not taking into account that he is the youngest child out of all of President Reagan's children...
"I'm not jealous at all; I'm a rich Republican."
Not rich here...just pay the bills to meet all the obligations life offers. Well, I take that back, I am rich in family friends and health. In this regard, I am truly blessed.
Michael loved his dad very much. You didn't have to watch him the day of the funeral to know that. Ron and Patti seemed to have been there more for moral support for mom, than anything else. I suppose that's a bit overboard, but it strikes me those two were some pretty cold fish when it came to their dad.
Over the years it seemed clear to me. I guess it is possible they reconciled with their dad.
Technically, Ron is the youngest child, but they are saying biologically, and then, my friend, he is the eldest son.
No, in that vein, he is the ONLY son of Nancy and RWR's union.
As the youngest child, to refer to him as the eldest son is incorrect.
Not according to my Senior Thesis...
He has, on his radio talk show this week
What did Michael say?
Some of us right away knew what Ron was saying but some here, goodhearted and decent people who just wanted to think the best and not have to deal with it, didn't want to believe he meant it that way.
Not according to my Senior Thesis...
That doesn't make you correct.
"Ron and Patti seemed to have been there more for moral support for mom, than anything else."
As they very well should have been.
let me see if I can explain. The two eldest were girls, so in the female realm, Maureen was the oldest and Patti the youngest, then... came Ronald Prescott, a boy, which makes him the firstborn boy/eldest son, but the youngest child. I've researched birth rights, temperments, etc, etc, the whole nine yards. Spent over a year doing research, we could argue all night, but even my husband knows better (when it comes to this subject) :)
hope that helps, I'd elaborate more, but then everyone would fall asleep, and well, we can't have that lol :)
Ron Prescott Reagan, you're no Ronald Wilson Reagan!
according to my 4.0 it does, and according to the multiple professors that read and commented on it.
love ya, but sorry, even though he is the youngest child, he is the oldest son, if they were to have had a 4th child, you would see that clearly, but they did not... just trust me on this one, I would NEVER lead a FREEPER astray :)
I have not use for that lousy fink Grover Norquist. The Washington Times had an article about how he co-founded an organization called Islamic Institute with a guy named Khaled Saffuri. Mr. Saffuri had also been involved in the American Muslim Council, supporters of Hamas and Hezbollah.

That must be the bit Scarborough just played. I went "huh", too. Never has GWB invoked Reagan's name as justification.
But you just watch, the media will start repeating this line as if that's the way it's been.
