Bush Reasserts Hussein-Al Qaeda Link

President Draws Distinction Between Involvement in 9/11 Attacks, Other Contact

By Walter Pincus and Dana Milbank

Washington Post Staff Writers Thursday, June 17, 2004; 12:45 PM

President Bush insisted today that "numerous contacts" between the ousted government of Saddam Hussein and the al Qaeda terrorist network showed that the former Iraqi leader was a threat to the United States, despite a report by the Sept. 11 commission that found no "collaborative relationship" between Iraq and al Qaeda.

Not the commission. KERRY, and the NYTimes. Both were over the top in the rhetoric, and the Times had the tmerity to call for an Apology on its editorial page.

The president should lay a little Suicidal Tendencies on the Times reporter at the nest presser...

Just cause you don't understand what's going on
don't mean it don't make no sense
And just cause you don't like it,
don't mean it ain't no good
And let me tell you something

Before you go taking a walk in my world
you better take a look at the real world
Cause this ain't no Mister Roger's Neighborhood
Can you say "feel like shit?"
Yea maybe sometimes I do feel like shit
I ain't happy 'bout it,
but I'd rather feel like shit
than be full of shit! And if I offended you,
oh I'm sorry
But maybe you need to be offended

But here's my apology and one more thing...F*CK YOU!

Wow, Peach, one would think that the brilliant, elite, commission could see there was a link since a little 'ol FReeper could come up with all of that with just a search engine. Maybe we should nominate you for Congress.

Peach...

Please don't think I'm following you around 'cause I'm not...but I really don't understand your "about time is right..."

This isn't the first time this week that the President has said this.

This isn't the first time this month...and it is not the first time this year.

When I read your post (and I might be wrong) you act as if this is the first time the President has mentioned the link. This is not correct.

Bush must say it loud and say it often. Offer up all evidence with charts and graphs on TV. He must tell the public why we are there. Spell it out.

No problem, carton. Some people believe as you do.

I have heard the president mention this a few times. But it's always a one or two sentence answer. He could give a more full answer.

He could mention the indictments in 1998 in federal court which link OBL with Saddam.

He could mention the dozen or so international AQ terrorists who have sought sanctuary in Iraq.

He could mention (and I don't think he did today) that he has NEVER said that Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

Those who don't pay attention to these things, except the major headlines, which accounts for 95% of America, will believe the 9/11 Commission and other lefties when they say that BUsh lied when he told us Iraq was behind 9/11. That's a pretty unfortunate talking point to let the malignant leftists own.

And my frustration isn't just with the president. It's with the fact that the Republican party has never defended itself appropriately, imo.

But maybe I should cut back on the criticism a little :-)

The commission claims numerous contacts, Bush claims numerous contacts.

I fail to see the disconnect here.

Again...without going down the same path we went down yesterday...

He could mention the indictments in 1998 in federal court which link OBL with Saddam.

An indictment is not proof...

He could mention the dozen or so international AQ terrorists who have sought sanctuary in Iraq.

This has been done ad naseum. Colin Powell also did it when he produced his evidence at the UN.

He could mention (and I don't think he did today) that he has NEVER said that Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

Again, he has...over and over again.

95% of America, will believe the 9/11 Commission

I don't know where you got the figure, but I wouldn't agree with that...

It's with the fact that the Republican party has never defended itself appropriately, imo.

You will get no disagreement from me on that...

But maybe I should cut back on the criticism a little

I would never suggest that... but, in my opinion only, you are presenting your case as if Bush isn't doing saying at all... that's just not true.

I said that 95% of Americans don't pay attention to anything but the headlines, not that 95% will believe the Commission.

The rest of it, I'll think about :-)

Rumsfeld press conference on now.

If the public doesn't understand why we are in Iraq there are no charts or graphs that will be able to school them. The President has spelled it out over and over again. In press conferences, in national addresses. So has his adminstration...

I got it from this statement....

"I'm going to send that list to Sen. Inhofe".....

I wrote the good Senator after he lambasted the others on the senate panel for runniing down our soldiers and acting like our military was the root of all evil. I told him he did an excellent job and was thrilled that SOMEONE FINALLY STOOD UP FOR OUR MILITARY DURING THE PRISON ABUSE SCANDAL.

He promptly wrote me back and thanked me. It was a detailed letter on the prison abuse and what was being done. He also got all over the media and how they were covering this story.

He would probably love the links if you sent them to him! I saw him on Chrissy blowhards show a couple of weeks ago and they were discussing the WOT and Saddam and Al Queda links came up........Inhofe pulled out a list of links.....IT WAS GREAT! Mathews jaw dropped and he started slobbering more than usual. LOL. The repubs should recruit Inhofe as their spokesman....he does a great job and NOBODY can get their spin in with him around.

Sen Inhofe is great on TV and probably why the cable networks don't like to have him on their shows!
