Thanks for writing. We want to let you know that we care about our readers and always try to listen to what you have to say.
We have read each and every email regarding our recent site redesign. We have listened to your suggestions and feedback, and have made some modifications to our recent redesign addressing your specific concerns. We have lightened the color scheme, added many more headlines throughout the home page, and made some alterations that should make finding stories and videos easier.
We were heartened to hear that the new site navigation made it easier for users to traverse Foxnews.com and find sections previously undiscovered by many of our readers. We believe this new navigation menu allows you to get faster access to more content than ever before.
Please keep the feedback coming and thank you again.

D'oh. Now with a real link.

Still loads too slow and is too busy with garbage.
Someone suggested www.myway.com and I am using this now as my homepage instead of FNC. The great thing is it allows me links to FNC's content without all the eye candy, plus it is customizable so you get your personalized weather, sports scores, stock performance, etc. And it loads in one second or less.
I think FNC has lost a customer.
Hey, that was YOU that recommended it, wasn't it? Thanks.
They did remove that fixed background that would destroy CPU. The DHTML moving menus on the right are still not necessary and should be replaced with static ones. The top of the website is WAY too busy and the advertisements take away from the content which in the web world is a huge no-no.
That was me that suggested MyWay. :)
Personally, I don't think they've changed it enough, and not really for the better. Still slow and "wide."
I can't believe that. It pops onto my screen in less than one second.
You must be using some sort of dial-up connection or something.
I think the site was bad before, was worse with the original changes, and is slightly better than that now. FrontPageMag.com went through a similar evolution a few months ago. I don't like having to scroll through little windows for stories, so I'm glad they have reduced the number of such windows. The site is still too busy with ads and self-promotional stuff. They added more real news to the home page (good) but don't seem to have taken anything else off (bad).
No. I'm on cable. Slow is a relative term. It still takes a long time to load. When you have all these banners and photos and ads and pop-ups and crawls, it's going to take time when all I want is a snapshot of the news and links to get more info on a story if I want it.
It's still way too busy.
Bump! Although I'm not using it as a homepage, I have replaced FNC in my bookmarks with myway. The FNC page deliberately (I think) blurs the lines between news, ads, and views. In this respect, it has sunk to the level of newsmax and worldnetdaily. The latter is just abysmal.
Well, gee. What happened to the link to the live webcam at the "al-firdos" (I know it's probably not spelled correctly) square? I enjoyed watching that for short durations.
It's simply awful!! I won't go there any more. Roger Ailes excels at nearly everything he does but if he's responsible for this mess it's a major exception.
I went to FNC yesterday with the purpose of looking for a transcript or summation of what Mark Furman had to say to Geraldo the other night. (I missed the part about why Mark Furman's partner was not allowed to testify at the OJ trial). I couldn't even find a site for Geraldo's show. I'm sure a link was there...I probablyu just missed it or this info just isn't offered. Maybe they don't want you to find it.
Did anyone else hear this interview and can tell me what he said?...or can you find a site on FNC for it?
On this very forum you will find people whose browser was "hijacked" by MyWay and had to resort to spyware/adware removing software to get rid of it.
I would never use them as a home page....FreeRepublic is and always will be my home page as everywhere else I go usually branches from there.
MyWay puts an entry into your registry that looks like this:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {07B18EA1-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\bar\1.bin\MWSBAR.DLL
In effect it hijacks your browser and cannot be changed without removing its registry entry.
Free Rep has been my homepage on all my computers since I joined.
That's if you download the toolbar. I already have the Google toolbar so I didn't download it. I have had some recent adware/spyware problems but it happened *before* I went to myway and it hasn't happened since I removed it. You're not being hijacked if you choose to download software.
Although myway has a statement on how they can offer what they do for free, there is a chance they have an ulterior motive. I just haven't found anything objectionable to it. At least not yet. If they are doing something to hijack the browser or infect my computer, I'll find it soon enough.
As for FR as a homepage, there are times I don't want the FR topic du jour thrust on me when I'm booting up. I have a life outside of FR. I just want a quick snapshot of what's going on in the world and, while FR is great, it lacks the balance I'd like to see when I'm looking for news.
Thanks for the info: I'll keep an eye out for any fishy pop-ups or adware programs. So far, I haven't seen anything -- but I've only been visiting myway for a week or so.
Drudge used to be my first stop for news. However, he seems to have lost all sense of proportion and relevance. For instance: there is no mention on his site of the 40+ killed today by the homocide bombers in Iraq. Instead, his headline is "Clinton Writes Book" or some such rot.
I'm glad somebody brought up FrontPageMag.
I'm on a dialup, and because of it have an increasingly critical eye of web site design.
Horowitz apparently doesn't have a clue that some of us can't afford, or simply don't have access, to high speed connections. And there are millions upon millions of us out here.
But that shouldn't matter. To me, a sloppy looking page gives the impression of lowbrow.
Yeah, this page screams "real programmers" saying things like:
"All computer screens are 1024x768."
"What do you mean 'disabled people' on the Web?"
"Is W3C a new wrestling federation?"
"Can't go wrong with primary colors and black."
"More boxes! More boxes!"
"Mouseover underlines are WAY cooler than regular underlines."
"Boss says we gotta get 30 ads on a page? Pshh! No prob."
"Make it BLINK! And SCROLL! Oh, cool!"
"#330033 should be readable on #000033. They're totally different numbers!"
