A stamp honoring former President Ronald Reagan will be issued next February,
Postmaster General Jack Potter announced yesterday at the Board of Governors meeting in Washington.

Potter said that while it is USPS tradition to honor prominent Americans
with a stamp a minimum of 10 years after their deaths,
the one exception is when a president dies.
Then the stamp is issued on the first birth date following the president’s death.
For Reagan that will be Feb. 6, 2005.

Nothing official on the denomination yet.
1st ounce first class postage will still be .37 in Feb 05, but an individual stamp
issue can be made in any denomination.

I'll send your suggestion up though channels using the "40th" President reasoning.

NOOOOO...just let it be a .37 stamp....that way the masses will buy it.....I don't buy into those "give away" stamps.

The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy Postal Service will be introducing a few Ronald Reagan stamps in the next few days!

These stamps are self-adhesive and are the same size as the commemorative USPS size. As long as regular USPS postage is also on the envelope or package, the Post Office will deliver.

His stamp should be larger than normal stamps...sounds corny, but I think he left a larger impression on most of our lives than some might admit.

It will be very interesting to see what kind of photo/portrait is used. Is there a protocol? Maybe they use the official Presidential portrait?

I've sent an email upstream asking about the image and denomination.

As I'm like a minnow in Lake Michigan I don't expect an individual reply,
but maybe additional information will be posted on the internal web site.

Actually, the masses won't buy it - not out of protest or anything, but the majority of stamps sold are now sold through vending machines, ATMs and the like that are stocked with basics such as the US flag stamps - commemoratives aren't put in there...

You can buy stamps online.......if they'd put them in a roll of 100, I'd buy them that way!
