Beirut, Lebanon, Jun. 15 (UPI) -- Iran reportedly is readying troops to move into Iraq if U.S. troops pull out, leaving a security vacuum.
The Saudi daily Al-Sharq al-Awsat, monitored in Beirut, reports Iran has massed four battalions at the border.

Smells like a diversion to me. Four Muslim battalions can't do squat against anyone who isn't completely unarmed and helpless.
Time to watch the border areas where they are NOT "massing".
It sounds like Iran has insured that we are not leaving.
95% of everything in Arab, Pakistani, Indian, Balkan, and Russian newspapers is wholly and completely bogus; people tend to give it too much credence. Most likely there are no troops at all beyond what Iran would normally have on the border (and most of its troops would ALWAYS be on the Iraqi border.)
".........Could this be one of the reasons all of our aircraft carriers are depoloyed (with full battle groups)?....."
Maybe the carriers are headed for the Gulf just to be sure that Saudi Arabia isn't taken over by terrorists.
Hey! if we take on Iran we could then control Afganistan to the east, through Iran, Iraq, and on into Saudi Arabia. That's a huge pool of oil for the free world to take over!
And now, for the bad news. War with Iran is inevitable and necessary. That country, with the mullahs in charge, can simply not be allowed to have a nuclear capability. OK, but given the stink that the leftists of the world raised over invading Iraq (a necessary precursor to an Iranian invasion) what leader is going to have the political courage to actually engage Iran with force? President Kerry? HA!!!
Nope, Iran will be nuclear. It will give those weapons to terrorists and they will use them. I imagine that European cities could be the first to suffer, but most likely it will be a U.S. city. President Kerry= at least two U.S. cities nuked within the first two years of his administration. But don't fear, it will still be Bush's fault.
You left out the good ol' USA.
;-)
Right -- but if Iran is really this dumb I'd move out the troops tomorrow and prepare for the destruction of the Iranian army. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth -- all we need is a pre-emptive invasion by Iran. The world hates those things.
LOL, given the recent history of wedding parties in Arabic countries, not a good idea.
They aren't that dumb
Whomever in Iran is running that operation must not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.
We don't have enough troops to invade Iran (or Syria.)
It varies a lot, but think of it in 3s
3 platoons to a company
3 companies to a battalion
3 battalions to a regiment
3 regiments to a division
3 divisions to a corps
But these units are renamed, shuffled around and task organized for battle. There could be something like two reinforced regiments in a brigade, or a division plus air and logistic for a Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF).
Because of all the variances, theres no reliable way to get a head count from a unit name. A platoons roughly 100 men, and we can do the math, but its easy to be off by 50 percent or more.
It's called "changing the vector of history."
"Allah better be preparing 216,000 virgins for service."
LMAO!
Looks like Iran is about to join Iraq and Afghanistan as the charter members of "America Kicked My Monkey Ass and All I Got Was This Stupid Democracy" T-Shirt Club.
When have you ever been to a wedding party where they had 300 sets of bedding, 100 sets of clothing, ID manufacturing equipment, thousands of ID and passports, and all of the partygoers were males of fighting age?
Given the usual accuracy of the press, it could be four divisions, four battalions, four squads, four brigades...or four broken down garbage trucks armed with slam-fire shotguns.
Four battalions "massing" for an invasion is an oxymoron. It could be an attempt to stop cross-border incursions from Iraq chasing terrorists, it could be an attempt by the Iranians to secure their own borders to prevent them from being used as a staging area for terrorists to conduct raids in Iraq, it could be a symbolic gesture to back up their defiance on the nuke issue. Or, it could just be maneuvers. But the one thing it isn't is a pre-invasion "massing" of troops. What a joke.
That's the way I see it --- Iran moving in would just cause the Iraqis to kill many of them. The mullahs would be biting off way more than they could chew but it could rid the world of the crazier Persians who want to go fight and die in Iraq.
Well, they have a good Air Force but it is really weak and vulnerable to defuse threats beyond their borders.
