Iranian Experts in N. Korea to Conduct Joint Nuke Experiments
N. Korea is reported to be making preparations for joint experiments with Iran with the purpose of nuke development, including high explosive detonators, a reliable military source on N. Korea spelled out on June 14(, 2004.)
In G8 Summit at Sea Island not long ago, serious concern was raised on nuclear development in both countries(N. Korea, Iran.) If joint experiments go forward, international community is expected to escalate its opposition to the development further.
According to the source, 6-man Iranian delegation went into N. Korea in May. It is made up of physicists and computer experts. Starting in July, they will conduct experiments such as 'neutron beam(?) experiment', using facilities in N. Korea, which will last for 6 months.
Neutron beam(?) experiment beams high density neutrons (to a target material), and monitor reactions. Neutrons hitting fissile materials such as Uranium and Plutonium initiates a chain reaction.
Data collected from such experiments are indispensable for manufacturing nuclear bombs. The experiment requires equipments for precise measurement and (secure) protective walls. Since Iranians have not had the technology to process data using their computer, "they decided that they need the help of N. Koreans who are also developing nukes", the source told us. N. Korea could also see its merit because she can also obtain (useful) data from this experiment.
It has been pointed out that both countries are cooperating in the area of ballistic missiles. If they do this joint experiment, it will prove that they also cooperate in developing nuclear bombs.

Ping!
Ping!
It can't be serious or else Bush would not be withdrawing troops from Soth Korea.
Thanks.
I knew this was happening soon......they're thumbing their noses at the U.S. and the U.N.
There's simply no way we'll allow them to possess nukes -- either we'll take care of it or Israel will, but it'll get done.
? It's serious. But we need to be taking it up with Iran, not N. Korea at the moment. In other words, we need the troops in the Middle East.
What's that? Nuclear weapons you say? Well, I'm sure it's Bush's fault that they want nuclear weapons. If only we weren't so unilateralist, then these countries wouldn't feel threatened.
What's that? Iran and North Korea are the ones threatening their neighbors? Well, I'm sure that's Bush's fault too. South Korea and Israel must have done something to make themselves be hated. Being Bush's ally, for starters.
Basically, this all boils down to Bush being the source of all evil on the planet. I don't see why more people don't realize it. Hopefully Michael Moore can educate the 'slow learners' out there.
don't worry John Kerry as President will get France and Germany to help us do away with these threats while they work with the UN,,, all our worries are over,,,
Maybe we should put our faith in the MAD doctrine and stop trying to peer into cyrstal balls to see what nation X or Y is up to and going on crusades to nowhere.
In the immortal words of John Wayne, "This is getting to be ri-goddamn-diculous".
If true, we'll behaving to start a new mission over something as grave as this.
You know where this is all headed to don't you? We can never let this continue to the point they get a finished product.
Well then why is Bush withdrawing troops from Korea if this is going on?
That may be the reason he IS pulling troops out of there.
retreat?
This was reported about a couple weeks ago on Iran Alert Thread.
There was a report the other day on Syrians being killed in the train explosion in N. Korea. Syria, Iran and N.Korea all deal in weapons together.
No, Taking cover when the big boom hits.ROK soldiers are more than capable of handling the north, they are well fed and well supplied compared to the north. The north could not support an invasion of the south. No food and no fuel. They do have artillery though but I doubt it is very mobil. I am sure we would provide air support if the ballon goes up.
We don't need 'troops' in Korea. South Korea has a military more than capable of holding the line against the threadbare masses of infantry to the north. The reorganizations we're doing there make sense, both for our forces there and for our forces elsewhere. What kinds of personnel are being moved indicates that.
If South Korea gets attacked, they'll not need our combat troops right off the bat. They've got plenty of boots on the ground. What they'll need is air, naval, intelligence and logistical support, and we have that ready.
