The Liberal Agenda In Colleges

Posted on 06/14/2004 5:02:51 PM PDT by ChristianJim

This is the first time I have posted a thread and I suppose it could be called a vanity post. I just wanted to share with FR my experience at my son's college graduation yesterday. To say that the speaker had a liberal political agenda would be an understatement. In any case I tracked down his web site and sent him an email. It occurred to me that the good people on FR might like to read what I had to say, and if you agree with my comments, you might like to take a few minutes to send an email with your comments. The email address is Paul@paulloeb.org Please let me know if I have violated any FR rules with this post. This is my first one. The email I sent follows.

To Paul Loeb,

Yesterday, June 13, 2004, I had the pleasure of attending my son’s graduation at the University of Washington. He worked very hard to accomplish this and I was pleased that I could be there to see him receive his degree. Unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy the complete event because of your address to the graduating class.

To say that you are a name dropping, professional student who has not contributed a useful thing to this country would be an understatement. You have spent your total existence in academia and have no idea what the real world is all about. It is individuals like you, who use the graduation exercises for the young people who represent our country’s future to advance your socialist agenda, that is contributing to the decline of our nation. Most of what you said in your so called speech was directly out of the liberal playbook and it was all a distortion of the facts to suit your own goal of advancing your socialist agenda. To stand in front of those young impressionable people and attempt to brain wash them with your propaganda was unconscionable.

Our country is at war against an evil that will destroy us if we do not stop them. Your distorted attack on our Commander-In-Chief during this war on terrorism further illustrates that you are also an enemy to this nation. People like you, and the liberal media, represent the enemy within and are as great a threat to the United States as the terrorists we are now fighting. You preach appeasement to our enemies in the mid east instead of confronting them and defending ourselves. I don’t see how someone, who claims to be as educated as you, can take that stand. Perhaps you should go back and review history. Did you ever hear of a man called Nevil Chamberland, or the evil represented by Adolph Hitler? Chamberland’s appeasement resulted in a little thing called the blitzkrieg of England and the deaths of hundreds of thousands innocent people. You can expect more 9/11s within our shores if we take the appeasement path. Have you ever heard it said that “if you don’t learn from your mistakes you are doomed to repeat them”? But then people like you don’t care about that, as long as you are in no danger. Well, you can rest assured that is not going to happen to this country. Not as long as I, and people like me, represent the majority.

You also took a shoot at President Reagan. Probably the best president of the 20th century. You complained about him signing a bill that would no longer give grants for higher education but would instead offer government loans that would be paid back after graduation. Most citizens, me among them, believe this is fair. Why should an individuals college education be funded by the tax payer. The last time I looked, this was not a socialist society, even though individuals like you want it to be and are doing everything they can to steer the country in that direction. My son, who was one of the graduates subjected to your liberal speech, worked his way through college with absolutely no government aid and managed to graduate cum laude. He also did it while holding down a full time job and supporting his own family. He did it on his own and I am very proud of his accomplishments and the fact he is a conservative, just as all of my children are. He is worth 10 of you and as far as I am concerned you are not fit to shine his shoes, let alone preach your socialist agenda to him.

Furthermore, its very possible there wouldn’t be an Iraq war for you to misrepresent in your disgusting speeches if John Kerry and his liberal cohorts hadn’t blocked President Bush’s energy bill. Do you realize that if the energy bill had been passed when it was proposed, Anwar could be producing 1,000,000 barrels of oil per day? That’s 1,000,000 barrels of US oil for US consumption per day. That’s revenue for 1,000,000 barrels of oil per day not going to help fund terrorism. That’s 1,000,000 barrels of oil per day we are not dependent on a foreign country for. I can’t say for sure we would not have been attacked on 9/11, no one can. But it only makes sense to believe that the chances of not being attacked would have been better. In any case we WERE attacked and it is in our best interests to take the fight to them and not have the fight within our boarders. You should sleep better at night knowing that our brave young men and women are out there fighting for your right to undermine them and our country.

I have one final point to set forth that I would like to hear from you on. Your list of accomplishments in the U of W graduation exercises program mentioned that you helped end the Viet Nam war. By doing a little math I would estimate you to would have been 23 years of age when the Viet Nam war ended. I would like to hear how an inexperienced 23 year old still wet behind the ears, and no doubt contaminated with socialist ideas, helped end the Viet Nam war. Other than participating in left wing demonstrations against the war that only served to cause an upheaval in this country and the mistreatment of our returning soldiers what could you have contributed that was worth anything?

The Viet Nam war was politicized to serve the liberal agenda of what is bad for the country is good for the advance of the liberals. And all the while playing down the fact that our involvement in the first place occurred when a Democrat was in the white house. It is all about power with the left and you are one of their highly educated, but ignorant, hand puppets that helps to keep them in power. If you and others like you would have just stayed out of the way, we could have ended the Viet Nam war in short order with a victory that would have helped to stop the spread of communism. Not to mention, thousands of lives would have been spared. But in the name of political correctness our military’s hands were tied and they couldn’t do their jobs. So, the war was ended in such a manner that it only served to embolden the communists. It took the policies of Ronald Reagan, while he was in office, to end the cold war and bring down communism. Make no mistake, you and people like you aren’t going to do the same thing with the war on terrorism.

I would like to read what you have to say in response to this, but I don’t expect there will be a reply. I should tell you that I intend to copy many people on this letter and I will also distribute any reply you might make. I did not try to hide my email address, so feel free to drop me a line.

Very well said! The old poem "Sticks and stones are hard on bones, aimed with an angry art words can sting like anything but SILENCE breaks the heart" I would not waste one moment trying to reform that clutzoid, he is not worth any of your attention.SF

Many here disparage those who robustly boo speakers like the one you had.

I for one would have preferred to read a front page newspaper article about a couple dozen of you standing up and booing him.

I'm sorry you had to deal with a pompus a$$ for a speaker.

Luckily my grad speaker was George Bush the elder. He was great! No politics, he gave an upbeat look ahead speach! (1997)

The University of Washington itself needs to hear from parents revolted at their choice of commencement speaker - especially when those parents tell the university in *no uncertain terms* that they will make *no* contributions to the alumni association. Unfortunately it is only money that gets their attention.

Likewise, most states have in their state legislatures at least one committee that controls higher education funding. They need to be made aware of how state universities are spending taxpayer dollars to push liberalism.

Hear, hear!

We need to collectively withhold our contributions until these colleges become more balanced (i.e., "Diverse") politically.

That's the only thing that'll get their attention.

Lucky for you.

For my nephew's graduation from medical school we had to sit through a condescending lecture by that awful woman with the hyphenated name who heads up the Children's Defense Fund (she's also a friend of the Hildebeast, but I can't think of her name).

Then, last month at my daughter's commencement we had to endure the remarks of a federal judge nominated by Paul Wellstone and appointed by Bill Clinton. Needless to say, he didn't invoke Reagan's name too often while quoting those he admired.

The same college has lined up Garrison Keillor for this fall's homecoming festivities.

And our institutions of higher learning pride themselves on promoting "diversity."

Yeah. Right.
